Best Import Game

Nintendo World Report honors 2007's best games.

Every so often a strange title will come out in some foreign land. While it would be great to see everyone get a shot at playing the game, it just isn't always economical. Ah, but you can always import and enjoy games crossing nations, oceans, languages, and protective regional corporate divisions.

Best Import Game

The NWR Award

Ouendan 2 DS

The original, addictive number-tapping rhythm game arrives in its best iteration. The menus and pre-song materials have been streamlined so you can skip everything and be constantly playing, if you can deal with your hand aching and the circular scratches on your touch screen (screen protectors are essential). The song patterns fit better with the music than in the original and you will be saving the world once more with the help of the cheer squad old and new. Overall it offers a slightly easier experience than the first game due to the improvements, though with a library of nineteen catchy Japanese songs it should take a good while to complete.

Runner-up: Otona no DS Kao Training "Face Training" DS

This quirky title, unannounced outside Japan, comes with a camera attachment for the GBA slot of your DS and a stand to keep your console vertical on your desk. The camera is used to show your face on screen, with annotations and instructions for testing your facial muscles. The game uses the vertical layout of the DS, with an animation on one side giving you instructions, and your face, from the camera, on the other giving you instant feedback and comparison of how well you are doing with the exercise. The result of this is toned and exercised facial muscles, giving your face more elasticity and firmness!
