Inside the Bubble Update: A First Look at the Wii U Interface?

Could this store demo be a glimpse of a Wii U game selection interface?

Earlier today while visiting the Nintendo World Store in New York, I had a chance to check out their new Wii U demo stations. The station that I checked out had a new menu system. While this is probably no where near the final product and might not even see daylight in terms of being part of the consumer OS, it does give us a glimpse of what game selection menus or even what the Wii U's eShop might look like, including a category selection option.

The interface enables users to scroll through game covers selecting to either play a demo or watch video of the game. The only game that had its demo button activated was Rayman Legends, which leads me to believe that either Nintendo will gradually make the other game demos available in store. The "cover flow" system is similar to the Starlight Fun Center, which is a hard drive-based Wii installed in many hospitals, as well as the Nintendo World Store. Will this be part of the Wii U's final interface? I guess only time will tell. Let us know what you think!

Hopefully this isn't final. Honestly, I like "channels" the best.

This isn't final. I've never seen a demo station for any Nintendo system that reflected how the actual interface looks or operates.

This is definitely not final, if it was, we would have likely seen it in a Nintendo Direct. Whether the Wii U's interface, aside from Miiverse, will be similar is hard to tell. It looks pretty slick, so I wouldn't mind if they used it as long as they beefed it up.

I don't this this is final could be for the stores only but the thing I would really like to know is if Nintendo World still had Pre-Orders going on at the time the video was taken.

I didn't check this time, but I know when I went on the 3rd of October they only had Basic sets left. Remember you can always call and ask.

It did feel a bit more responsive but that might have been because of the added surface area.

Well, if the Wii U's shop interface does turn out to be something like that, Nintendo's certainly taking another page from Microsoft's playbook with the Wii U.  That Xbox LIVE Marketplace uses a similar interface, and while I'm not fond of it due to how slowly it takes to move between selections, it's certainly functional.  I would hope, though, that you would be able to use the sticks and buttons to navigate the UI instead of the touch screen, as you can on the 3DS and now the Vita as well due to a recent firmware update.

Looks like homebrew loader  ;)

Also, no way it will be like that, MiiVerse is gotta fit in there somewhere.
