Trine 2 Update Available Now in Europe, North America WiiU

UPDATE: Now North America can chat and play with their Pro Controllers, too!

Trine 2: Director's Cut has received an update in Europe with support for the Wii U Pro Controller, voice chat in online multiplayer, German voice acting, improved visuals, and "a bunch of minor gameplay features and fixes, confirms Frozenbyte's Joel Kinnunen.

The update will be arriving to North America soon, with Kinnunen noting he expects it to arrive shortly.

Miyamoto Changing His Gaming Style, Developers Have Yet to Add Uniqueness to Wii U Games WiiU

Wii U is revolutionizing the way Shigeru Miyamoto plays games.

The Wii U has changed Shigeru Miyamoto's gaming style, the famed Nintendo developer declared during Nintendo's live results briefing where he and Nintendo Global President Satoru Iwata took the stage.

During the event both Iwata and Miyamoto discussed that Nintendo's newest console has changed the way they play. Iwata described the system as being a part of his life, with this being the first time that has happened to him.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is coming to North America in "early 2013" according to Nintendo's latest financial briefing. During the live results briefing, the title was also referred to as coming out "by mid-year."

The Google Street View application for Wii U is now named Wii Street U, and is coming to Japan in mid-February, according to Nintendo's latest results briefing. The app is slightly delayed from its original January release window.

3 Million Wii U, 12.7 Million 3DS Systems Sold in 2012

Nintendo Land is the biggest selling Wii U game, whilst New Super Mario Bros. 2 takes the 3DS sales top spot.

Nintendo sold 12.71 million 3DS systems and 3.06 million Wii U consoles in 2012, according to the hardware giant's latest financial highlights.

Out of the 3DS units sold last year, the 3DS XL accounted for 7.05 million of them, bringing the total lifetime-to-date sales of the handheld to 29.84 million.

Nintendo Cuts Sales Forecasts for Fiscal Year, Anticipates Annual Net Profit WiiU3DS

Net profit is projected despite the slashed sales projections and expected loss in operating income. 

Nintendo has reduced its forecast of global Wii U and 3DS hardware and software sales for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013, but still expects to post an annual net profit.

The company now envisages selling 4 million units worldwide in Wii U consoles, down from the previous estimation of 5.5 million units, while software projections have been modified from 24 million to 16 million units.

Epic Mickey Developer Shut Down Wii

Junction Point Studios and Warren Spector no longer have a home at Disney Interactive.

Junction Point Studios, the developer behind Epic Mickey and its sequel, has been shut down.

The closure, as reported by Polygon, was confirmed by a representative of Disney. This source said the reason behind the move was "changes to our Games organization."

Following the closure, Junction Point's president and co-founder Warren Spector stepped down as the vice president of Disney Interactive Studios.

Zen Pinball 2 Dated in Europe, 'Coming Very Soon' to North America WiiU

Once scheduled for a December release, Zen Pinball 2 is almost here.

Zen Pinball 2 will release this Thursday, January 31, in Europe. North America will get the title "very soon" according to developer Zen Studios.

Zen Studio's apologized for the delay which has pushed the game to a February release in North America. The developer said "We thank you for your patience during the delay, but we had to make 10000% sure the game worked correctly so you all can have fun playing the game immediately."


LEGO City Undercover Would 'Lose Something' on Other Platforms Says Exec. Producer WiiU

Megabloks are just not LEGO bricks, and other systems just aren't Wii U. 

LEGO City Undercover would not be the same on different platforms according to Executive Producer Loz Doyle.

In an interview with Official Nintendo Magazine, Doyle states that "LEGO City Undercover would definitely lose something on other platforms, Chase is actually given a LEGO version of the GamePad as his Police Communicator, so it's really woven into the story."


China Considers Lifting Ban on Console Sales WiiU

China may end its 13-year ban on video game console sales. China's state-run newspaper, The China Daily, reported today that the Ministry of Culture has begun discussions with other Chinese agencies and gaming manufacturers about lifting the ban.

EB Games Canada Selling Fire Emblem Awakening Today 3DS

I may have to take down a beaver or two on the way, but it beats waiting.

EB Games, a division of video game retailer GameStop, is selling Fire Emblem Awakening early in Canada. 

When contacted, a representative at the retailer said that an email was sent out to EB Games locations across Canada detailing the early sale. Stores are informed to make their copies of Fire Emblem Awakening available for purchase as soon as inventory arrived.

Atari Follows THQ and Files for Bankruptcy

A sad start to the new year.

It might be the end of an era for two companies as THQ and Atari filed for bankruptcy in December and January, respectively.

THQ has officially ceased to exist as of Tuesday when the company’s studios and properties were auctioned off. Atari, however, hopes to transition into digital publishing and live on in a new form.
