The CEO of Nintendo has the graphs to prove it. Also, Nintendo will up Wii production to 2.4 million units in July.

Instead of simply sticking to the numbers on revenues and profits, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata used an end-of-fiscal-year briefing to address a variety of issues. He touched on increased Wii supply, third party game sales, industry beliefs he felt were obsolete, and Nintendo's new goals going forward.

Early in the briefing, Iwata announced that in order to meet projected shipments for the next fiscal year Nintendo would increase production to 2.4 million units of hardware a month, starting in July. This would amount to a 600,000 unit increase over their current 1.8 million unit capacity, a sizable amount for a company that's renowned for playing things safe.

Nintendo's fitness tool bests Mario Kart Wii as its fastest selling piece of software ever in the UK, generating the third-most revenue for a game launch in British history.

Only two weeks after the runaway success of Mario Kart Wii, Nintendo UK has made history once again as Wii Fit has displaced the multiplayer racer as the company's fastest selling game for the British market. The "body awareness" software and Balance Board accessory have generated the sixth most sales and third most revenue ever for a game launch in the UK during its first two days after release.

Priced at £69.99, Wii Fit has found its way into the hands of about one in ten British Wii owners since its debut across Europe on April 25, earning Nintendo approximately £16.3million. Only Halo 3 (£16.9m) and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (£24.2m) have managed to out-gross Wii Fit in their launch periods, though the release of Grand Theft Auto IV may add to that list shortly.

Due to strong demand and sales, Iwata reports that there are no plans for price cuts this fiscal year.

Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata reported in an interview with Reuters that Nintendo currently has no plans to decrease the price of either the Wii or the DS this year.

The already computed earnings projections for the year were not calculated with any price cuts in mind, according to Iwata. Strong sales of both consoles along with strong consumer demand leads Nintendo to believe that price cuts for either system are unnecessary.

Analysts are predicting that Nintendo’s posted earnings projections for the year are actually on the conservative side and earnings will surpass the numbers projected by Nintendo.
