Finally, an event Pokémon!

It has been revealed that for the first time in a very long time, Australians can now receive an event Pokémon, Manaphy, when they visit JB HiFi between the 7th and 13th of November using the Mystery Gift function.

The Aussie Manaphy has a Red Scarf, and Cherish Ball and its moves are Heart Swap, Water Pulse, Whirlpool and Acid Armor and interestingly enough, cannot be chucked onto the Global Trading Station and also, you can only receive one per game card.

Event Pokémon in Australia are few and far between, so maybe this will be first in a decent line of event Pokémon for Australia.

EA's CEO doesn't think the $60 game is going to fly with consumers much longer.

John Riccitiello, CEO of Electronic Arts, thinks that the video game industry will be damaged if leading companies don't change with the times.

Talking with Fortune Magazine, Riccitiello believes that paying a premium price for games is a business model that won't be around next decade. Because of the advent of online game distribution, he said EA will be experimenting with new pricing models.

“In the next five years, we’re all going to have to deal with this. In China, they’re giving games away for free," Riccitiello told Fortune. “People who benefit from the current model will need to embrace a new revenue model, or wait for others to disrupt."

With the convention season over, we were curious what you think of all of these gaming shows. Do you think public events like E for All, PAX, and Comic-Con are important for the industry? Should the major events be made more open? Is the new closed E3 responsible for the growing number of public events? What are they good for? Anything and everything, tell us what you think by going to the forums.

Soon, we'll be able to give the gift of classic gaming. Also, Wii production has increased to 1.8 million per month.

The Associated Press is reporting that Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has announced a new feature of the Wii that will allow consumers to purchase Virtual Console games and then send them to friends over the Internet.

Details are sparse, but apparently users who receive and accept a game gift will have the Wii Shop Channel on their console open automatically, at which time the game will start downloading. Iwata did not mention a time frame for the service to begin.

"We think this will be a breakthrough in encouraging customers to spread news of fun games [by] word of mouth," Iwata said. He went on to say that Nintendo hopes this new feature will encourage more Wii owners to connect to the Internet, something Nintendo has stated before that it is aggressively pursuing.

A wide variety of games make their return to Japan next month.

Nintendo has updated its Virtual Console page in Japan, and that means a list of seventeen new titles for gamers there to look forward to in November.

For the Famicom (NES), Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Douchuu, the second Goemon (Mystical Ninja) platformer from Konami, will be the first out, followed by the Joust-inspired Balloon Fight from Nintendo. Capcom’s Makaimura, better known in the rest of the world as Ghosts ‘n Goblins, and Hudson’s first Famicom game, Nuts & Milk, are also scheduled. Finally, King’s Knight, a lesser-known RPG from Square-Enix, will wrap up the month’s Famicom releases.

Iwata promises expansion into new markets next year.

With Nintendo riding high on the Wii’s continuing rise into the stratosphere, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata recently announced plans to further expand its hardware distribution into both China and South Korea. While Iwata referenced the huge demand for the Wii that has continued to outpace Nintendo's increased manufacturing plans, he seemed optimistic about expanding the Wii's reach in the new year. "Our responsibility now is to deliver as many consoles as we can to existing markets," Iwata said. "But next year, I think we can bring the Wii (to China)."

Expect plenty of cinematic zombie fodder in the coming years in the form of animation and live-action.

Biohazard: Degeneration will be Capcom’s first foray into CG film waters. The film is already in production in Japan in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan, and will released in 2008 in the Land of the Rising Sun.

According to Capcom, Degeneration will feature a brand-new storyline, and will not be connected in any way to the live-action Resident Evil films. So successful have the recent RE films been, in fact, that a fourth entry is already in pre-production.

Brawl will feature a level editor, SD storage, sharing with friends, and submission for "stage of the day."

Major online features of Super Smash Bros. Brawl continue to be revealed at the game's official blog. Today's update details the level editor, a first for the series. You can choose from various music, backgrounds, and level sizes, then place all kinds of platforms and objects on a grid to create your level. The number of pieces you may use is limited, so that the stage won't become overly crowded. This mode is compatible with the SD card slot, so you can create lots of levels without having to worry much about storage.
