Check out a nice little video of Konami's upcoming movie-licensed game.

The tale of King Arthur is based on fact...at least according to the upcoming movie and Konami's game adaptation, which will be released on GameCube as well as other platforms. The game looks to be very similar to EA's Lord of the Rings action games, as you can see in the trailer.

Boktai 2: Solar Boy Django was unfortunately not playable at E3 2004, but Konami has provided this monstrous (40 MB) trailer to satisfy your Boktai needs. Games based on movies show less than stellar sales.

It has become common that a video game will be released alongside a major motion picture. In addition to the usual critical malaise surrounding these games, an article from the New York Times reports that licensed games also sell poorly. The article mentions that of all the licensed games published last year, only Enter the Matrix reached the top 10 in NPD sales charts.

One of the major factors retarding the sales of such games is the tremendous negative history. Only a few have broken through to become huge successes. Dan Hsu, editor in chief of EGM, notes:

Now if only I could buy a Mini-Mario.

Nintendo seems to be going all out for the Japanese release of Mario vs. Donkey Kong. The Japanese website Game Watch was on site during the filming of the game's commercial. The promo, which stars three very good looking Japanese girls, takes place in the Mini-Mario toy factory. The girls, who are dressed up like the denizens of the mushroom kingdom, are showing off the amazing new toy. The commercial was shot against a green screen so there is sure to be more going on in the background once it airs. Babelfish's loose translation seems to imply that it will be airing alongside a few big shows starting May 29th. You can find Game Watch's original article, which features more pictures of the toy and the toadstool triplets right here.
