Nintendo's holiday season started back in October.

One word: Pokémon. For my sister's birthday, I got her the early present of getting us both games on day one (having a sibling has always made coordinating Pokémon games a breeze). Pokémon X and Y were absolutely fantastic additions to the series and it successfully took over my life this month, and pretty much the rest of the year.
On a more disappointed side, Swapnote's SpotPass ability was discontinued suddenly this month. I didn't frequently use the application, but it was always fun to see that little blue dot light up on the app and see what was inside. Honestly, the only times I used Swapnote were to send a message via SpotPass, so this pretty much killed the app for me.

Like many other people, Pokémon dominated my time this month. I spent many hours going through the new Kalos region catching a ton of old and new creatures. Of course, it all ended when I captured my favorite Pokémon, Mewtwo.
Other than that, my wallet cried this month because Nintendo revealed new Mario and Luigi themed Wii Remotes, as well as a newly designed Zelda: A Link Between Worlds 3DS XL. As a collector, I had to get ready to pick these awesome items up.

My journey into Pokemon X was halted shortly after starting the game due to the hinge of my newly acquired 3DS XL cracking off. I had bought it off of Craigslist for fairly cheap, and since it was out of warranty and had to pay over $90 to get it repaired. The experience taught me a valuable lesson about buying game consoles off of the service. After getting it back from repair I don't think any other 3DS game stole as much of my time in such a short period as Pokemon did. It was that fantastic.
On the console side of things, I had the luxury of reviewing Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut in October. As much as I loved the original release, the Director's Cut on Wii U made the game even better. Not only did they improve the game's boss fights that were originally farmed out to another studio, but the second-screen features were essential. I could have a constant map of the area on my GamePad and I could easily access my equipment, upgrades, and perform the hacking mini-games faster than ever. While I wish the game on Wii U was more competitively priced with the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC releases, it's hard to deny that the Wii U-specific features didn't make it worth it.
