As the Nintendo World Report staff prepares for E3, they find some time to make a few predictions.
I think this E3 with either make or break the show for good. Last year was so bad that it forced the show organizers to go back to the big, grand spectacle of yesteryear. If this year's E3 fails to capture people and create hype with big announcements, then it's clear that E3 is not what it used to be. But it seems that companies are excited enough that I think they will put on a good show no matter what.
My E3 prediction is that Nintendo will focus a lot on MotionPlus. With it being released a few days after the show, it makes sense for Nintendo to hype it up. They will demo it on stage using its launch games: Wii Sports Resort, EA's Grand Slam Tennis, and Ubisoft's Red Steel 2. The megaton of the show, however, will be one big core game that uses MotionPlus. It's going to be the game that fans will beg to be released and could bring the Wii-owning hardcore back in full force.
There will also be a big focus on third-party titles. EA alone has the MotionPlus enabled sports games and Dead Space: Extraction, Capcom has Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles and there will be many other surprise announcements. Either way, Nintendo will put a lot of focus on their third-party partners, especially since they were nearly absent from the presentation last year.
I would love to see a new Mario Party game announced at E3. I think we might hear about it since it' been two years since Mario Party 8 was released, and with MotionPlus around the corner it makes sense to wrap a game around it. I would also like to see a WarioWare game that uses the Balance Board and/or MotionPlus.
