E3 '09: NWR Staff Predictions

As the Nintendo World Report staff prepares for E3, they find some time to make a few predictions.

Let's get one thing clear. I LOVED E3 2008. It's probably an unpopular stance, but I'm not afraid to admit that I had a huge smile on my face at Nintendo's Press Conference. Sure, it was probably the worst E3 showing by Nintendo in awhile, but too many people treat E3 like some vegas-like wish-fulfillment wonderland. That's a sense of entitlement I don't subscribe to: E3 is nothing more than a tradeshow. A really big tradeshow. A really big tradeshow where, if you keep an open mind, you'll find plenty of surprises and topics of interest.

Now, with that in mind, the following possibilities for Nintendo consoles could be plenty interesting and surprising if they came to pass:

  • Crystal Bearers gets first major showing, but is not playable
  • Red Steel 2 Gets a brief mention and quick video at the Nintendo Conference
  • NO console Zelda game shown
  • Trace Memory R announced for US release, but not playable
  • Wii Sports Resort is the big Nintendo game pushed at the show, even to the exclusion of other Nintendo titles on the show floor
  • Ubisoft announces another line of Ener-G games, despite the first installments flying under the radar of the gaming press

Now, if that last possibility came true, I'd actually be excited: I own a copy of Ener-G Dance Squad! Of course, if Nintendo announced a new F-Zero game, that'd be mindblowing on a whole other level.
