What’s Macronix about? What is the company’s History?

Known as an Integrated Systems Provider Macronix International Co., Ltd. was founded in December 1989. It didn’t take long for the company to gain International acclaim, making Macronix the youngest company in Taiwan listed in Taiwan Stock Exchange and first company in Taiwan listed in Nasdaq in the United States. Over the past nine years, Macronix’s efforts and quality results have yielded many recognized and established remarkable world-class first tier accounts in Japan, United States, Europe, and Asia Pacific.

Although Macronix get our attention because of its current relationship with Nintendo, the “Big N” isn’t the first big name company Macronix has dealt with. Some other notorious clients who have requested the services of Macronix include Mitsubishi, Yamaha, Infineon, Samsung, HP, Motorola, Seagate, and Philips.

According to Dataquest in 1999, Macronix was listed as the seventh largest supplier of the non-volatile memory in the world. Currently, the company is working to mix Flash/DRAM technologies with digital/analog function blocks for computing, communication, and consumer markets. The company delivers total solution in the area of Flash, EPROM, and Mask ROM. In addition, the company has the capability to provide the necessary know-how in the area of Audio, Video, and Networking.
