NWR E3 2010 Awards

3DS Video of Show

by Jonathan Metts, Neal Ronaghan, and Karlie Yeung - June 26, 2010, 3:02 pm EDT

We've played the games, discussed them in our podcast, now find out what we chose as our best games from the show.

3DS Video of Show: Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D

It's Snake; he is in the jungle. Look at those 3D trees!

Metal Gear Solid 3D was the longest interactive video at Nintendo's 3DS area, and it was also the most impressive. Kojima's demo not only sent rolling log traps and alligator teeth toward your eyes, but also presented a great sense of depth with beautiful, detailed graphics that easily best the original PS2 game's visuals.

Honorable Mentions:

Kid Icarus Uprising

Outside of a trailer, there isn't too much out there on Pit's grand return, but the trailer is quite stunning, displaying visuals that wouldn't look out of place on Wii. The gameplay looks like a cross between Star Fox, Sin & Punishment, and Gears of War, which could be an awesome combination. Oh, and Masahiro Sakurai (Kirby, Super Smash Bros.) and his development studio Sora, Ltd. are behind it.

Paper Mario

What better game to show than one that already uses dimensions as part of the world. The pop-up art style blends perfectly with the 2D/3D elements of the game and enhances the constantly changing levels.

And that concludes our awards! Our E3 2010 events page remains a central point for all our coverage from the show, so be sure to take a look if you missed something.
