Planet GameCube's E3 2002 Thank yous!

Mike Orlando's thank yous

by the NWR Staff - June 1, 2002, 9:07 pm EDT

  • To Billy, for creating this site, and harbouring what is easily the best staff I have ever had the pleasure to work with.

  • To Max, for hiring me just over a year ago, allowing me to get into this year's show legitamitely. Also for exposing me to sake, the first time I've ever tasted the beautiful nectar of the Japanese. So. Good.

  • To the entire staff of PGC, for defying all odds and not sprouting one asshole from the internet. Amazing. Everyone was dedicated, and did a terrific job.

  • To Lucas Arts for officially announcing Full Throttle 2 in their trailer of upcoming games. Dear God yes.

  • To Nintendo, for providing us with quality titles like Mario Sunshine and Zelda, which continually fuels my passion for this industry.

  • To Max and Sklens, who allowed me to sleep in their hotel room, on the floor, in the closet one night, which has already exposed me to numerous "coming out of the closet" jokes which become more original each time.

  • To everyone but Mike Sklens for either not making fun of my Canadian nuances, specifically using the word "eh" at the end of multiple sentences, or for making fun of it only once or twice. I'm watching you, Sklens. Oh yes. You think you're safe...

  • To representatives from Ubi Soft and Vivendi, whom greeted me when I began playing their games of which I was to write impressions on (Rayman Arena and Die Hard: Vendetta respectively), and spent time with me, exemplifying people who give a flying.. duck about the games they're representing.

  • To that guy (name eludes me, sorry) who gave us (PGC) a booth tour (in Nintendo's booth).

  • To the N-Sider guys for not stealing my wallet while we played Smash Brothers in their hotel room.

  • To Emily, for not biting my penis off.

  • To all of the Asian patriarts at the Japanese restaurant who were present during my drunken rendition of a certain Steppenwolf song over the place's karaoke system. Thank you for not laughing at me. too much. Or, at least thank you for doing it under your breath.

  • Thank you to all the people at Alaskan Air for making my flights to and from LA non eventful. They were my first flights since 9/11, and as I was a tense flyer BEFORE those dates, well.

  • To Satoru Iwata for being such a COOL guy. President of Nintendo, and (as pointed out by a fellow staffer) he speaks English, and makes an appearance at Nintendo's press conference.

  • To the Gaming Age forum for being such a great help when it came to the story of Yamauchi stepping down. You guys rock.

  • To the crazy, homeless drunk, whom I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing regarding Nintendo. I pray that the interview makes it onto the DVD. I pray.

  • To the hot Chinese girl at the badge reception desk (Billy knows her name, heh) for being the polar opposite of. other employees that hover around the same position.

  • To my parents, for helping me get there in the first place.

  • And finally, to all the other people who I'm forgetting like the usual dumbass I am. Thanks.
