Max Lake's thank yous

by the NWR Staff - June 1, 2002, 9:01 am EDT

  • First and foremost, thanks to all the PGC readers! Without our readers, this site would be nowhere. I’ve always been committed to this work for all the hardcore Nintendo fans looking for solid, daily information on the Big N. PGC’s readers now number in the thousands and I appreciate the attention of every single one of you. Super duper extra special thanks to those of you supporting the site by buying our E3 DVD!

  • Secondly, I want to thank the entire PGC staff. From Billy on down, I’m quite fond of every body on staff, and getting to hang out with almost our entire crew at this year’s show is an experience I’ll never forget. Everyone worked hard, we had so much fun and I’m proud to be associated with them all. I really can’t wait to see ‘em all again. GO PGC! SHINE GET!

  • Special thanks to Billy for believing in me, and more importantly never giving up on PGC. You are one Crazy Mofo Billy, and without you PGC wouldn’t be what it is. Hell, there wouldn’t be PGC, period.

  • Thanks to my family for all the help in recent times. Mom & Dad, I love you lots. Caroline & Stephanie, you’ve been wonderful sisters and I’ve enjoyed spending time with your familes. Patrick, I’m really proud of you and wish you coulda been there!

  • Mike Hrusecky – I am so bummed you didn’t make it this year, but of course NOWHERE near as upset as you must have been. Nonetheless, you helped out on the homefront and PGC’s coverage was so much better for it. It was awesome, and so are you man. I will fire bomb AOL if they screw you over again next year. Er… or something.

  • Thanks to Rick Powers – This was my 3rd E3 with you and by far the best. Thanks for your support and letting me know you knew where I was coming from. I love the fact we’ve been at this, so long, and it keeps getting better.

  • Thanks to Rize ever so much for the game music CDs. My life is officially rocked! YOU DA MAN!

  • Ed – Great seeing you man. Keep in touch, one way or another. ;)

  • Thanks to Jonny Metts for being a PR Wizard, a great friend and for not killing me for having his copy of Majora’s Mask for so long. It was really great to see you again man. Also thanks for the Metroid shirt, I’m still wearing it. (Not really!)

  • Mucho thanks to the Cole family: For opening your home and being so gracious. I felt very welcome & I was overwhelmed by your hospitality. .

  • Michael Cole: Younger Plumber old buddy, you’re all over the place but I understand—I can relate. Thanks for making my stay in L.A. such a good time. Just remember: if the rest of the staff did duct tape us together and locked us in a room full of Pixie Sticks, I’d be the one making it out alive.

  • Daniel – Thanks for letting me stay at your place & coming home early to help guide my airport shuttle to your abode. Also thanks for tolerating my being kidnapped by a breakdancer. You weren’t just a host to TYP and I, but to the entire staff, staking things out, getting reservations. You’re a great guy, Dan. I’m glad you’re on our staff and it was great meeting ya!

  • Steven “WindyMan” – for the glow in the dark Pikmin poster! And for not being anywhere near as cocky in real life as you are online.

  • Adam Kontras – Thanks for stepping forward to do a professional job with the E3 DVD! Extra special thanks for the GC Mini Cases! They Rock! In fact, every GameCube owner should invest in Mini Cases! Yes that’s a blatant plug, but it’s no lie! Mini-Cases are amazing!

  • Andres – Thanks for being a good and supportive friend. Good luck with everything.

  • Dragona (AKA DragonSpy) - SMASH YOU WITH THE POTS! ‘Nuff said.

  • Ty – I didn’t see your burning soul, but I sure felt it. I’m a monkey. And I didn’t have breakfast.

  • Stacey “BreakyGirl” – You’re a sweetheart. Take care of yourself.

  • Mike “Striker Obi” Sklens – For sharing a room at the last minute and being a cool roommate. I had a lot of fun man, but by far we did not play enough games or listen to enough ska.

  • Thanks to Deguello – FOR MAKING IT TO THE SHOW THIS YEAR. I would talk more about our antics, but one of us would get arrested. Maybe. Suffice to say, I had fun.

  • Mike Orlando – Another THANK YOU FOR MA- Oh wait, you were at E3 last year, weren’t you? And I completely missed you. That’s right. Whoops. Well, it was great seeing you this year man and hanging out. Thanks for running us through some of your best games, and the free Japanese food, which I actually left in my hotel room.

  • Heaps of thanks to Tammy Nation for her surprising contribution to E3! Using her new embroidery machine, she fashioned three very cool PGC polo shirts! The only problem: I didn’t get one! ;)

  • Thanks to Justin Nation for the continued help despite a busy workload. We gotta get you to E3 next year man!

  • Ed McGlothlin – It was really nice hanging out with you man and it’s really good to see you doing well. Thanks for dragging me along to the Eidos Party! Best of luck to you and the entire GameForms crew!

  • Jeton from N-Sider – Thanks for sticking around to play Mario Party 4 with us! W00T!

  • Thanks to Midway for the Jurassic 5 show… It rocked and it turned out the two guys I was talking to hours earlier in Nintendo’s Booth about F-Zero were members of the group!

  • Sega – Hey thanks for letting people into the booth this year! (Even though I got in last year)

  • Thanks to David Dienstbier & the Turok Team for Turok Evolution. The demo wasn’t so great on NGC but the potential is there, this sucker is gonna kick ass. Also thanks are in order to Acclaim for Dave Mirra XXX. Way to push the envelope guys!

  • Johner Riehl – 4 E3’s man and it’s great to see ya every time. Except every year previous you were somewhere else. It’s awesome you’re doing so well working with Golin Harris and Nintendo. Not as awesome as your big bushy beard though. Looking forward to catching up soon!

  • Thom Leonard – For being ultra nice to PGC as always. Knock ‘em dead Thom!

  • Thanks to everyone at Nintendo –especially the ones who went out of their way to compliment us on the site!

  • Thanks to Peter MacDougall for doing a great job at the press conference

  • Thanks to Hiroshi Yamauchi – Sir, you’ve earned your retirement. You have led Nintendo to greatness!

  • Satoru Iwata – Congratulations on the promotion! It’s been cool seeing you speak the past two E3’s and I wish you the best of luck in your new position!

  • Thanks to Shigeru Miyamoto – For the games that no one else can produce & for loving Planet GameCube

  • Props to all the colleagues in the field, it was great to meet so many of you and see others again.

  • Thanks to the guys from Cross Gen who hooked us up with free t-shirts and a free comic trade paperback! ROCK!

  • Thanks to whatever cosmic force had me sitting next to a DigiPen student who attended the show on the way outta L.A. –we had a great conversation until I passed out from exhaustion.

  • Thanks to the guy working at WaldenBooks in the Pittsburgh Airport, who let me stand around and read Spider-Man comics (of which there were many thanks to the movie) for hours during a lengthy layover, without hassling me whatsoever. Actually, when I looked up at him, I realized he was also reading Spider-Man comics. BEST_LAYOVER_EVAR

  • Thanks to anyone I forgot – I still love ya, really. E3 wears a man down.

  • Did I already thank all of you who are supporting PGC by buying our DVD?
