DS - Game of the Year

Nintendo World Report (finally) honors 2007's best games.

2007 was a great year for the Nintendo DS. Looking at the Nintendo-published titles alone, it could easily be considered the best year to date. That made the task of choosing the BEST DS game all the more difficult. We fought it out, and here's what we think is the best DS game of 2007.DS - Game of the YearPokémon: Diamond & PearlHonestly, how can it not be? Half a year of playtime, a simplistic yet devilishly deep RPG structure, the most fun you’ll have on Wi-Fi this year, and bragging rights that begin and end with a Lv. 100 Charizard? It’s gotta be Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, our DS Game of the Year. Runner-up: Contra 4After fifteen years of tinkering, Contra finally returns to its roots. The result is a game that many of us simply cannot stop playing - partly because it's so fun, and partly because it's so hard. Contra 4 features tight control, solid dual-screen level design, huge bosses, addicting challenges, classic cooperative play, a great soundtrack, and even a witty instruction manual. The only things missing are single-card multiplayer and Wi-Fi multiplayer, but they probably weren't technically feasible to begin with. If you haven't picked up Contra 4 yet, maybe it's time to get in touch with your inner manliness and attack aggressively!
