Hopefully folders are free for everyone.
Getting onto Switch Online is going to require a firmware upgrade.
In a communication to Nintendo Account holders this evening, it was announced that the latest full update of the Switch's system software will come on Tuesday. The communication came with a warning that following the update, it would no longer be possible to disconnect a Nintendo Account from the Switch profile.

The online service has been confirmed for a September 18 launch date. All users will receive a seven day free trial.
More details about the service will be revealed in the Nintendo Direct tomorrow.

Reset the clock.
Nintendo will be getting back to Direct business shortly.
The September Direct will now air on Thursday at 6 p.m. Eastern / 3 p.m. Pacific time / 2200 GMT. This represents a week's delay due to a deadly earthquake in Japan.
The promised length and focus is the same, and it isn't known if any content will change from the initial video.

The end-of-summer Ultra Bonus Event is a celebration of Kanto Pokemon.
Farfetch’d, Kangaskhan, Mr. Mime, and Tauros join the Alolan-form Pokemon in 7km eggs, and Mewtwo will appear in normal raids, Niantic announced today.
Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres will return to raid battles from Sept. 13 to Sept. 20, all with possible shiny encounters. Mewtwo will take over Sept. 20 and stay until Oct. 23. There's no word on Mewtwo's shiny form.

Pokemon Let's Go has announced new hardware and features.
The Switch bundle has been announced for release on November 16, and will retail for US$399.99. The hardware bundle will include a dock adorned with Pikachu and Eevee, tan and yellow Joy-Cons, the Poke Ball Plus controller, and a pre-installed copy of one of the games.

Switch passes the Wii U this week. Onto the 3DS.
We fell three short last week, but North America's Switch is going to shoot past the Wii U's release count this week, and is now within probably a couple of months of passing the 3DS. We'll probably be talking about passing the Wii and DS by the end of the fiscal year at this rate. The big ones - aside from Steph Curry's Shut Up And Shoot Threes 2019 - are Wasteland 2 compressing onto the Switch, alongside Dust: An Elysian Tail.

The game that marked Square Enix's return to Nintendo consoles is coming back next year.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered will release on Switch in 2019, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the game's Western release. According to a report from Kotaku, online multiplayer will be included this time, with worldwide connectivity.

One of the longest running turn-basrd strategy series is coming back to Nintendo after a decade.
2K Games has announced that Civilization VI will release on Switch November 16. The console debut for the 2016 PC game will include four bonus scenarios and 4 player co-op or competitive play.
A version of the original Civilization launched on the Super Nintendo, and 2008 spinoff Civilization: Revolution released on DS.

No, that title isn't confusing at all.
SquareEnix has brought mainline Final Fantasy back to Nintendo consoles... in a fashion.
The company released a trailer for Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD on their Youtube channel earlier tonight, confirming the game for a Switch release "soon". The game has already launched on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The timing suggests a potential "it's out right now" was delayed.
A taste of the Blue Bomber's newest adventure is now on the eShop, and only recently appeared.
Mega Man 11, in addition to being available for pre-purchase on the eShop now, also has a demo available for download. The demo has one stage - Block Man - but multiple difficulty levels.
The demo went live at approximately 7 p.m. Eastern time, suggesting it was due to launch after the delayed Nintendo Direct.

At least 40 people are missing on Japan's northern island.
Nintendo has delayed the Direct scheduled to air this evening / tomorrow morning.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 has struck the Japanese island of Hokkaido, killing eight people and leaving more than 40 missing according to local media reports. Landslides were also triggered by the quake, one of the most powerful earthquakes to strike Japan in this decade.

After the Smash Direct and two indie presentation, Nintendo has apparently cut the brake lines on the hype train.
A Nintendo Direct has been announced for 6 p.m. Eastern / 3 p.m. Pacific time on Thursday, September 6. The focus will be "around 35 minutes of information on upcoming Switch and Nintendo 3DS titles".

A pair of classic arcade shooters are coming to the Switch this winter.
Irem's classic shooter duo of R-Type I and II will launch on Japanese Switches this winter as R-Type Dimensions, published by Japanese firm Tozai Games. The game will release worldwide, after initially being announced for Japan.

The original Valkyria Chronicles is launching outside Japan after all.
At a PAX West panel today, Sega confirmed the Switch remake of the 2008 strategy RPG will come to the West on October 16. The game will retail for US$19.99, and digital owners of Valkyria Chronicles 4 will receive a 25% discount from that.

"Cats piloting mecha" means games are now taking inspiration from the NWR staff's browser history.
Devolver's 2019 lineup not only includes genocidal bananas, but also cats in robots.
Gato Roboto is the company's latest announcement, coming at PAX West and releasing wide in 2019. The game has an art style similar to recent Devolver Switch release Minit, but substitutes the overhead view for a side-scrolling exploration platformer.

A sequel to one of the last lights of WiiWare is coming to Switch "soon".
La Mulana 2 has been announced for release on Switch and other consoles. The reveal was first made by Famitsu, with a simultaneous reveal at Microsoft's indie games event prior to the PAX West expo.
No release date was given for the exploration game. Console builds are in progress, but the game just recently launched on Steam after a Kickstarter campaign.

The Yacht Club Games team have revealed the release date for the final story expansion for their long-running success story.
Shovel Knight: King of Cards was revealed by IGN to be releasing on April 9 for both North America and Europe. Alongside it will be a release of Shovel Knight: Showdown, a multiplayer focused expansion with a story mode that features the knights battling in modes including a treasure hunting mode and a fighting game.
