Epic's Rein: '3DS Unlikely to Run Unreal Engine' 3DS

The Epic chief theorizes that the Nintendo 3DS falls below the Unreal Engine minimum specifications.

Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games, said today that he believes that the Nintendo 3DS will not be able to run the Unreal Engine 3, making the handheld system incapable of running games using the popular engine.

Mario and Animal Crossing Printed Fans Coming to Club Nintendo

Club Nintendo US will have this prize available tomorrow.

The Mario Galaxy and Animal Crossing-themed paper fans previously seen on the Club Nintendo Japan website are coming to Club Nintendo US.

One fan will come to a total of 300 coins, with four designs to choose from. Check the catalog tomorrow to order yours.

These are in fact no longer listed in the Japanese Club Nintendo catalogue, so for now, the US pages are the only place to order one.

Rabbids Invade Your Television Again

Ubisoft's Raving Rabbids will star in a new series of animated shorts.

In partnership with Aardman, Ubisoft is producing a pilot and several episodes of an animated short feature based on the Rabbids characters.

"When the opportunity arose to work with Ubisoft on the Rabbids we leapt at it, we absolutely love the characters and can’t wait to help bring them to a television audience," Miles Bullough, head of broadcast at Aardman, said. The company created the Wallace and Gromit series.

Capcom Bringing Ghost Trick, Okamiden to New York Comic Con DSWii

Play the games, get some swag, and meet some producers.

Capcom confirmed their New York Comic Con lineup today, and it will include Ghost Trick and Okamiden for DS, and Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes for Wii.

The company will also be doling out lots of swag. There are Okamiden headbands, silly bands, and limited edition t-shirts. Fans of Sengoku Basara can take place in a march through the show floor by becoming one of the 100 fans who wear a Basara clan t-shirt.

Iwata Discusses 3DS Software Prices

Expects them to be in line with current Nintendo DS prices.

At the recent investors' Q&A, Satoru Iwata mentioned that games for the Nintendo 3DS will be pretty much in line with the current price of Nintendo DS games.

He later went on to comment, "We don't believe that the world is in a state where high priced software will sell well, so we don't believe it will be in a price range too far off from current DS software."

Nintendo Reveals New York Comic Con Lineup DSWii

There are new Dragon Quest IX maps and a full roster of past and future releases.

Nintendo is bringing eight games to New York Comic Con, which is taking place this weekend (October 8, 9, and 10) at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City.

Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Wii Party, and Metroid: Other M headline the Wii side of things, in addition to Activision's GoldenEye, which is the lone non-Nintendo-published title available.

Wii in a Third of UK Households WiiDS

One in three homes with Wiis, and more with a DS owner.

Nintendo have announced that based on Chart Track (UK) sales figures, one in three households owns a Nintendo Wii. 8.3 million consoles in total have been sold across the UK. The one in three figure is based on National Statistics figures that show there are around 25 million households in the UK.

As opposed to simply adding depth, Capcom has added a completely different viewing angle.

In a September interview with revogamers, Yoshinori Ono, Street Fighter IV's producer, teased that Capcom was adding "something that will surprise people" that "requires the 3D function" to the 3DS port of Super Street Fighter IV. 4gamer's Super Street Fighter IV 3D impressions, from Nintendo's press event on Wednesday, have revealed that this "surprise" is a behind-the-shoulder mode.

WayForward are not currently developing this franchise.

Release schedules for the Nintendo 3DS published during E3 2010 listed a title from WayForward, A Boy and his Blob.

A WayForward spokesperson recently stated that the previous announcement was incorrect, and there are no A Boy and His Blob games currently in development for any platform.

Pokemon Black and White remain at the top in Japan.

Pokemon Black and Pokemon White posts back-to-back weeks at number one in Japan despite experiencing a 68% dip in sales. The games became the fast-selling ever in Japan last week, and there is indeed still indeed plenty of interest for the duo of Pokemon games. From September 20-26, Pokemon Black and White sold just over 828,000, bringing its lifetime-to-date total to just short of 3.4 million.

Automatic firmware updates to combat piracy.

In an investor's briefing following the presentation on September 29, Iwata replied with the following comment regarding a question about Nintendo's anti-piracy measures for the Nintendo 3DS.

"As part of the functionality of SpotPass, we're looking into having automatic system updates via the internet."

Three New DSi XL Colours in Europe DS

Green, blue, and yellow launching next week.

The Nintendo Conference DS software line-up video opened opened by showing several colours of DSi models.

Three of these colours will be available in Europe from October 8. The green, blue and yellow colours will be released additions to the DSi XL range.

Nintendo of Europe also released an updated schedule for the holiday season.

ASCII Media Works brings the gaming world its first 3D fishing experience.

ASCII Media Works has announced Fish On for the 3DS. As the name would imply, Fish On is a fishing game.  It allows players to fish for various real-world fish using a selection of lures.

The screenshots released show underwater images of various fishes, fishermen in boats, and various structures that the player will presumably be able to fish around.

One of the original titles announced for Nintendo 3DS today, Marvelous Entertainment/AQ Interactive will release Animal Resort in spring 2011.

In this zoo life simulation, you find yourself inheriting a zoo from your grandfather. Starting with one elephant, you build up your zoo to attract more and more visitors each day. Eventually, over 100 animal species will be available for your care.

Iwata Explains 2011 Release Date for 3DS 3DS

The planned 2010 release for Japan was moved forward.

At their press event Wednesday, Nintendo announced that the 3DS would be launching February 26, 2011 in Japan and in March in Europe and North America. Many analysts had predicted a 2010 release for Japan, and possibly for other regions. Nintendo president and CEO of Nintendo Co. Ltd. said the 2011 date was chosen due to supply constraints.
