When all else fails, deny deny deny.

eDimensional Denies Internet Rumors About Potential Partnership with Nintendo

West Palm Beach, FL - May 5, 2005 - eDimensional, the leading manufacturer and worldwide distributor of cutting edge gaming and virtual reality accessories, today denied rumors circulating on the Internet that they were in negotiation with Nintendo Co., Ltd., of Kyoto, Japan, the acknowledged worldwide leader in the creation of interactive entertainment.

According to online buzz, the Florida-based company is in discussion with Nintendo to license or sell its patented stereoscopic 3D technology, which is currently featured on the eDimensional 3D Gaming Glasses and VirtualFX console product, for use by Nintendo in future console systems. Several internet websites and forums are speculating that Nintendo is preparing to enhance the gaming console experience with stereoscopic 3D graphics. Because of eDimensional's ability to convert a two dimensional image on a standard television screen, using the VirtualFX, into a 3D image, some may be correlating this with Nintendo's possible upgrade.

"While it is typically our policy not to comment on rumors or speculation, due to the overwhelming number of phone calls and emails inquiring about this we felt the need to acknowledge that eDimensional is in no formal discussion or negotiation with Nintendo regarding our stereoscopic 3D technology," said Michael Epstein, CEO of eDimensional.

Talkback

Good. Stereoscopics can't work for us cyclops. (LOL Only one of my eyes functions at a normal level)

DasmosMay 06, 2005

Good! I didn't really like the concept of 3-d anyway......

RABicleMay 06, 2005

Good. This idea was riddled with weakness.

Shift KeyMay 06, 2005

Good. A revolution starts with baby steps, not giant strides.

MarioMay 06, 2005

Good. I wish all these stupid rumors would end, they're ALL fake, hurry up E3.

joshnickersonMay 06, 2005

Good. My apple pie is done. Wait, what were we talking about?

DeguelloJeff Shirley, Staff AlumnusMay 06, 2005

Good. All the responses start with the word "Good." Good.

CaillanMay 06, 2005

Great. This was always obviously a lie anyway, because Iwata said that the Revolution coud be played on both a normal TV and a monitor.

DasmosMay 06, 2005

Ruined....... face-icon-small-thumbsdown.gif

Grant10kMay 06, 2005

Bad, 3d was a really bad idea an...what? what are we doing? oh sorry
"GOOD" 3d was a really bad idea anyway

Bill AurionMay 06, 2005

Only 11 more days of torture to go... -_-

PaleMike Gamin, Contributing EditorMay 06, 2005

I'm starting to think all we are gonna see is a new incarnation of the spaceworld zelda video..some ominous fmv supposedly running on the new hardware... :-/

couchmonkeyMay 06, 2005

Good. Then we can speculate for another year! face-icon-small-wink.gif

Nile BoogieMay 06, 2005

Good. Episode III doesn't suck.

steveyMay 06, 2005

Good. now g4 look like an idiot for thinking it was trueface-icon-small-laugh.gif

Ian SaneMay 06, 2005

"Only 11 more days of torture to go"

Then we get a new type of torture. The options are:

1. "AHHHH!! THAT'S what they're doing?"
2. "That's not enough info. I need MORE!"
3. "That's AWESOME! Only 400 days or so until launch."

Bill AurionMay 06, 2005

I happen to like those options... face-icon-small-smile.gif

Ian SaneMay 06, 2005

You like option 1? That's supposed to be the bad kind of "AHHHH!" as in "AHHHH! You took a dump in the washing machine!"

I want option 3.

Bill AurionMay 06, 2005

Oh, AHHHH could be taken as good or bad...You should have been more specific! But Option 1 will never happen, so I'm not even going to think of its possibility...

Who ever said this particular company was involved in 3D-ness? I'm sure there are rival technologies. Not that I ever really believed Nintendo would bother with such a pointless feature.

theRPGFreakMay 06, 2005

Good. Now hurry up E3!!!!

The OmenMay 06, 2005

Good God people! Just because they deny it does not make it untrue. Since when did a company NOT deny rumors?

BlackNMild2k1May 06, 2005

they only said that they are not discussing nor are they in a negotiation with Nintendo

Quote

eDimensional is in no formal discussion or negotiation with Nintendo

at this stage shouldn't all negotiations already be taken care of and all formal discussions already over?
they should be working on implementation by now.

Ian SaneMay 06, 2005

"Good God people! Just because they deny it does not make it untrue. Since when did a company NOT deny rumors?"

Well in this case most us don't want to believe in the rumour. A denial tells us what we want to hear so we immediately buy it. In most other cases we want the rumour to be true so when we get a denial we try not to believe and speculate that something's being covered up.

NinGurl69 *hugglesMay 06, 2005

Good. I can forget about this mess and get back to doing laundry.

gallyMay 06, 2005

It's strange how IGN reports some rumors but not others, PlanetGamecube reports some rumors but not others, etc. I figured that such a stereoscopic system would require a new type of TV anyway, and wouldn't that really drive up the price? Nintendo needs to find a reasonable price, and one of their historical traits has been having a lower price compared to the competition.

Btw, I'm amazed at how many of you have Reggie avatars. What's up with that? Is it just something the most common posters do? It's actually quite funny.

NinGurl69 *hugglesMay 06, 2005

Yeah, it's HI-larious. Bill announced that May 3rd was the start of 'REGGIE MONTH' in honor of His birth at last year's E3 and His eternal presence at all forthcoming E3s forever and ever. Many have joined the party.

"Nintendo Co., Ltd., of Kyoto, Japan, the acknowledged worldwide leader in the creation of interactive entertainment."

Well, it's about time someone acknowledged it! face-icon-small-smile.gif

Kamek_XMay 06, 2005

Were all like "what is Nintendo up to?" I guess are questions will be answered soon enough. Or leave us with more elusive questions. I cant imagine what exactly could they come up with, that will revolutionize gaming without thinking 3D. So by chance if it really was a sort of 3D experience. Perhaps it would be best if it was just one of the systems features.
Although it's not all that bad if you picture it. Then again it could be much worse. For example What if it turned out to be like the Riddlers 3D TV from Batman Forever. All the while Reggie is sitting in his Lair sucking up are IQ unbeknowst to us! Hmmm a Reggie Riddler Avatar naww....

"if only there was a giro company that could kill the lame giro rumors" those are true wwt and ytt are game with giro

UncleBobRichard Cook, Guest ContributorMay 08, 2005

Okay, I posted a smart-alec comment eariler about a quote from the press release...

"Nintendo Co., Ltd., of Kyoto, Japan, the acknowledged worldwide leader in the creation of interactive entertainment."

Does *anyone* else think that this quote is... strange? I pointed it out hoping that someone else would jump on it, but, meh... I'll go out on the limb here...

This line seems... odd... for a company to put in a press release about another company that they, in theory, have no ties to. Why go out of the way to make such a nice, supportive statement - that is pretty subjective - and debatable - in a simple press release saying "Nope, we've nothing to do with them..."

Maybe I'm looking too far into this...

Tuxedo.BondMay 10, 2005

Exactly what I am thinking. Then again, maybe they just like Nintendo.

I myself would love 3D hologram like graphics, I mean just imagine being able to almost reach out and touch a hot chick in a game!...
