What's next, Cricket Street?

EA Brings FIFA to the Street; FIFA Street Brings Style and Flair to the World's Most Beautiful Sport

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 22, 2005--Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced today that FIFA Street, the new title under the EA SPORTS BIG(TM) brand, has shipped to retailers worldwide. The game was developed in Vancouver, B.C., by EA Canada, the same studio that is also home to such titles as NBA STREET V3 and FIFA 2005.

FIFA Street introduces the combination of arcade action blended with the culture of freestyle street soccer. By removing the rules from the simulation soccer experience, FIFA Street exposes the heart of the world's beautiful game, on-the-ball flare and individual style.

Leading this movement are the worlds top professional players, showing off their skills and individual style in 4-on-4 match-ups against the backdrop of global venues that represent the true culture of street soccer. Take on the best and be required to earn their respect, gradually building your reputation and team into an unstoppable force that leads the tide of street soccer.

FIFA Street is rated "E" for (Everyone) by the ESRB and has an MSRP of $39.99. It is scheduled to ship on the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system, the Xbox(TM) video game system from Microsoft and the Nintendo GameCube(TM). Cricket Steet! What a fistworthy game that would be. Cricket would work because people actually play that on streets. I can remember making up all kinds of awesome rules when i played it last. "Hit a car 30 runs, set off the alarm 50 runs" etc. It earnt fist.

Joking aside, I think the next logical game would be NHL Street - it's the only game I've actually seen played literally on the street. Basketball is played more on driveways, it seems...

NBA Street Vol. 2 > NBA Street V3 in my opinion, and I didn't like NFL Street. Basketball has fancy dunks - like it always has, like back in the NBA Jam days. Other sports don't seem to have that kind of flair, and I guess I had to like football to begin with to be able to enjoy NFL Street. Let's hope they can keep up some momentum, for some reason I don't have high expectations for FIFA Street, despite soccer being the most popular sport in the world...though I suppose it could be like Captain Tsubasa or (Sega) Soccer Slam.

Since there's no NHL this year, I could definately see this happening. I heard rumors that there won't be a regular NHL game for 2005. With no updated rosters, what's the point in buying the same game you got last year?

FIFA Street? Sounds like a game about hooligan fights.

Hop Scotch is already on the side walk so all you'd have to do is move it 5 feet and I'm taller than that.

Hm, I wonder if they even bother with including the one goal, two player team-elimination gameplay that's common when you can't get a whole court to yourself? That's pretty much the only variation of football I've ever seen on the "street" (schoolyards).
