Last thing they updated to their website was earlier today was the background music to Rarity's Stage.

It's really striking to me how this really nails the style from a CPS2 fighting game rather than something from "My Little Pony" like the other previously released songs. I like this and think it is a good thing! I thought of all these songs right away:

Well S-U-P-E-R the music does fit well with the stage if you think about it. Also Mane 6 has 2 Musicians doing the music so that may be why the difference between the 3 stage themes released. RainbowCrash88 did the AppleJack and Twilight Sparkle themes so far which were pretty impressive to say the least. Also there is the fact that all these guys are fighting game fans so some of those songs may be already be in their heads.

Well today is the livestream and it has started!  Since this is a new page I am just going to link the page again.

http://www.mane6.com/2012/02/mane6-livestream-ii.html

I'm just going to be using my twitter account to chat in the chat there. Anyway have to eat lunch.

Looks like Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Apple Jack, and Twilight Sparkle and Game system Changes will be be gone over. Basically what happened at BroNYCon but with more detail.

Wow, those prices are terrible. I've seen the 3DS version of SF4 for 15€ in stores and most of the other games are cheaper at retail too (e.g. Dark Void is like 5€)

Part 1 of the live stream is up of the Fighting is Magic game from the other day. Parts 2 and 3 are being uploaded currently as I type this. I'll either edit this post or put the next parts down below any comments I get from this one.

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

I guess I will put my thoughts here.

So far my play style as far as control goes Pinkie is winning out because I tend to favor charge characters. Yeah they are fairly predicable but I like the craziness that Pinkie has to her attacks and it seems you can be really crazy with your attack combos with her.

Can't wait till they show more of Fluttershy off.

Street Fighter x Tekken is coming out in a few days - who's getting it? I'm kind of hesitant because it looks like it's implementing and/or retaining a lot of bad ideas, but I guess some other parts look incredibly fun... and I'll probably make that money back the first tournament we have for it here :P:

Oh god I've been hearing about that nonstop, and I don't even know where to start or where I land on it. I think it's true that the fighting game scene is rowdier than most, but as for how sexist it might be, I don't know, you'll probably have to ask a lady about that. In fact, a friend of mine said she was writing an article about it, I'll pass it along when I see it. I do, however, think that the fighting game scene might be the only place where you can say someone talks a lot of **** but they're really nice too.

I'm curious if anyone goes to events or tournaments for any other sort of game, does that scene seem sexist to you? I mean video games are pretty male-dominated, especially competitive ones...

i just heard about it in the site chat over at Nintemple.com last night that we had and well the one woman in the chat was pretty upset about it and there were a lot of guys upset about about it to but there was only 7 of us in the chat last night.

I didn't get to give my thoughts on it last night because I was kinda busy but I did listen and read the article. So I guess I will give my thoughts here.

I kinda thought that the comments were out of line. The ones to Miranda. I understand getting into someones head but Aris was on the same team and if those comments were to help her out to to tolerate them and ignore them then isn't there a breaking point for everyone? People have different ways of dealing with comments and maybe the way that Aris was doing it wasn't the best way for Miranda.  That's just my take on that video from the first day.

As for the 5th day video. I can understand both sides. The fighting game fans feel that they need to keep the status quo and keep it how it has been since it has been the last 15 years or so. Basically they think they are doing fine on their own and they think they should keep things going. The other guy from the video. The starcraft guy. I agree with him more currently just because of how Aris came off in the first half of the the conversation while he remained calm. I think that as most things in life the best solutions are found in the middle. Basically tone down the sexual stuff but also make things a bit more complex with the fighting games. That way both sides win.

Now this is the opinion of an outsider who hasn't really done much in the competitive fighting game area since the early 90's aside from that Brawl tourney at Gamestop. So take that advice with the knowledge of the current fighting game scene.

Now this bit I don't agree with. I feel like pretty much everyone who is part of the scene is very welcoming to anyone who wants to play and there have been efforts by major community leaders to coax more women into fight games - you might remember the girls' tournament at Evo a couple years ago. Outside of the gender gap, you'll find fighting gamers are *the* most diverse group you can possibly have. When Aris said that the sexist stuff was an inseparable part of the rowdy fight game scene, he was being a social retard and also completely wrong. And I think he would agree with that now.

I think anybody that's been big into fighting games since before SF4 really appreciates every person that joins in...

Well I do have to agree that back in the 90's it was just fun to watch the person playing and then see them on a big winning steak of beaten foes and you just wanted to be the one to beat that guy.   SUPER that was just what I was getting from the guy. I know that guy doesn't encompass the whole fighting game spectrum and I do agree that fighting games do kinda depend on people joining in to keep going.

As for the topic I may be able to start it but I am very busy today so I can't keep it going. It is early enough that I can start it though that it won't interfere with my other stuff as long as I can get going.

Yeah, I could start a thread later since I wanted to throw a few questions and ideas out there that I don't want to here in fear of derailing the thread. But don't let me stop anyone from going on ahead since it might be a while for me, I'm currently butt deep in preparing for my upcoming move and job.

I plan on getting it when it comes out in May...

Poison / Vega tag team? Yes, please.

I'm curious if anyone goes to events or tournaments for any other sort of game, does that scene seem sexist to you? I mean video games are pretty male-dominated, especially competitive ones...

I went to QuakeCon in '99, '00, and '01. While it was predominately a male crowd, the scene never seemed particularly sexist. Quake and Doom always seemed to bring in more metal heads than outright geeks, though. Plus, one of the highest ranked clans at the time was the all-female PMS... so. :P

Or, play a mixed team.  Basically I can see the Tekken players having some problems with Street Fighter Combos and Specials...just as Street Fighter players will be thrown by Tekken Combos.

For the first tournament or play with the game...I would personally choose my 2 favorite characters from both franchises...characters I know how to play with my eyes closed, and see what I can do with them.

My brother will probably be ALL OVER FiM. And I 100% support him in his bronie-hood.

When Aris said that the sexist stuff was an inseparable part of the rowdy fight game scene, he was being a social retard and also completely wrong. And I think he would agree with that now.

Yeah, I'm not particularly shocked at the idea of trash talk in general, or the idea that sometimes bad apples cross the lines of social acceptability, but I was FLOORED by the idea that the person in question could go so far as calling it unethical to try to improve and deal with that sort of behavior.
