Hahaha, that'd be awesome...Though logically, if they DID appear, I think they'd be more fitting as cameo appearances in the city...

True, but then you lose that moment of "HOLY ****! GUYS COME TO MY TOWN! SAMUS IS HERE!!!!"

Socialising and communicating with friends and family has just got easier – and more fun – as the new Wii Speak accessory and Wii Speak Channel are launched for Wii across Europe on 5 December 2008.

Wii Speak enables people to connect to and communicate with friends using the free-to-use Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection* in a way that is very socially inclusive. Wii Speak can be connected directly to the console and pick up the conversations from an entire room of people, meaning friends and families can all get involved in conversations, sharing gaming and social experiences together. It’s just like using a phone to make a call and chat with other Wii-friends: but with Wii Speak, everyone in the room can get involved in the conversation.

The new Wii Speak Channel, accessed from the Wii’s main menu, allows up to four console users – who can be anywhere in the world – to connect together to chat, or to share pictures and text messages at no extra cost. Once connected, the Wii Speak Channel brings user’s Miis to life: as users’ Miis represent them on-screen during their conversations. When players are talking to each other, their Miis also ‘talk’ to match the sound that is being picked up by the Wii Speak accessory.

Users have to share their private Friend Codes to be able to communicate with each other, which makes the experience safe and fun.

As well as enabling people to connect together through the Wii Speak Channel, Wii Speak also opens up a new world of social gameplay. The first game to use the full capabilities of Wii Speak is Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City, in which players can create and share their personalised worlds.

For the first time, friends can chat in the game and, as the action happens in real time and creates a world in which players celebrate real festivals and events, sharing the gaming experience over the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection on Christmas Day will be a uniquely magical experience, with characters and other players in the game all joining in the festive fun! Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City and the Wii Speak microphone will be offered as a bundle at launch, making a perfect gift for friends and family this Christmas.

In the future, Wii Speak will be incorporated into other Wii games, meaning that new opportunities can be created for social gameplay amongst the console’s fans.

Enjoy a whole new use for your Wii with Wii Speak and enjoy the chance to create – and talk about – the perfect world that you create in Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City on 5th December 2008, when they launch across Europe both as a bundle and sold separately.

Is there any noted new features like being able to hold more items or allowing multiple closets in a house or bigger house designs?

Is a wireless keyboard very necessary for Animal Crossing if using the Wii Speak? Of course the townies won't hear me cursing them out on ocassion- and that's a good thing, but do you think it would be really worth a purchase of a keyboard if you don't have one already?

Well I think for me it isn't really worth it because I am quicker with the Wiimote than with a keyboard.
I have a USB keyboard and I used it on the internet channel and it was a hassle. There is one custom made for the Wii.I saw it today.BRB

I actually use my PS3 wireless keyboard on all my systems and it works like a charm since it uses a USB dongle. If anyone is wondering why I have a PS3 wireless keyboard because the original price was 69.99 but I got it for 24.99 new.

Just got the review copy and a Wii microphone and played tonight.

I have to say, I'm pretty damn depressed how similar this game is to the old ones.  I haven't really come across ANYTHING that I truly feel counts as significantly new.  The city is mostly made up of places that were occasional visitors in the old games, like Katrina and Redd, or variations on other things.

I caught the same damn fish in the same damn locations as before.

Working for Nook in the beginning was identical.

This doesn't feel like a sequel.  It feels like a port of the same old game.

Hopefully something will happen to make me feel like it's truly worth it....

Also, if anyone knows someone who has an early copy, I'd love to test some online stuff.  I'm trying to find someone.  Maybe Bloodworth has a copy.

Also, I got a separately packaged Wii Speak microphone.  It comes with a code to download the Wii Speek channel, but the instructions on how to do it lead to a dead end in the Wii Shop channel where the option they are telling me to press isn't there, and there is a sticker on the box that says "Wii Speak Channel Available in December."

So apparently no Wii Speak at launch of the microphone, so don't rush out to get one if you aren't getting Animal Crossing.

I really really want to like this game, but it's only frustrating me at this point.  My fiancee was also stoked for it and was excited when I called her from work to say we got it.... she then asked me why it was the same thing as she watched me play the intro.  :(

So no one can use Wii Speak until December? That really sucks I like Animal Crossing a lot, but I don't know about paying 70 bucks for a port that I already own. I will point out that over time Nintendo added small things here and there to Wild World that I enjoyed so maybe that is something that will happen with City Folk- but that just included furniture and nothing very significant. I hope you run into something new though.

Like what?  There are a bunch of new holidays, and obviously there's new furniture/wallpaper/carpet/junk to collect, if that's what you mean...

Yeah special items and furniture, but I don't think it will save the monotony for seasoned Animal Crossing players.

Well you can use Wii Speak just the Channel won't be out until December, also supposedly Opera 2.0 comes out in December as well which features Wii Speak functionality (probably voice commands).

OMFG this game is driving me bananas.  I want another console AC game VERY VERY BADLY because AC on a handheld just doesn't do it for me.  But Mario is right, this game is just one giant scam!  I can just put my original AC disk in my wii and the experience wont be a whole lot different.

That being said, I will probably end up buying this game anyway and cursing Nintendo's name on my deathbed.

Well I played a bunch more this evening.  Paid off my house so I'll get an upgrade tomorrow.

Got bummed out about Mii "masks" as you can't use them and have accessories like hats or glasses.  Thankfully, the emotes still work with the Mii face.

Mushrooms are worth a small fortune. So that's good.
