Call me an optimist, but maybe a Third party game will step in the second half of 2008 and be a mega hit for the Wii. Maybe something like RED STEEL 2. Don't hate.

Let's keep in mind that as soon as a game studio wraps up development on one game, it immediately begins work on another. All of these high profile games coming out so early in the Wii's lifespan can only be a good thing, in my opinion. Once they're out, the studios that made them are making some new high profile games. Will those new games be released later this year? Maybe, maybe not. But you can be sure they don't just sit around doing nothing.

Let's see what announcements are made at whatever conventions or press briefings Nintendo makes in the second quarter before we judge their lineup for the year.

I'm excited for Silicon Knight's Zelda game.  I was disappointed when they had to give up work on Twilight Princess because Nintendo didn't like the moblin army battle on the open field.

We won't see anything from Retro until 2009 at the earliest.

If we don't get Brawl before June then it's going to be September at the earliest. Then it'll be marketed as this year's BIG TITLE..

I changed the title of the thread. I honestly didn't mean to say that the lineup after MK Wii sucks but that its weird for Nintendo to release three big titles one after the other when they have the tendency of balancing releases so that they don't compete with each other.

If MK Wii is somehow released in April (or Spring) then they must be confident on their Fall lineup...

I was jes jokin witch ya. Glad you changed it to something more respectable. And BTW, I agree that Nintendo has always thought they had great ideas about when to release games, but they've always been wrong.

Brawl, Wii Fit, Mario Kart all in the first half of 2008? Wow, you're right, Nintendo is PACKED SOLID in these first months. It's no wonder that they may be intending to pass MS in American installed base by June.

After that though, do you guys really think Disaster will see the light of day? I only really personally anticipate Animal Crossing for this fall from Nintendo, don't know enough about anything else.

What big third party games can we expect for this fall though? Tales of Symphonia: KoR perhaps? Will Fatal Frame IV be out by then? Monster Lab and/Or Deadly Creatures? Is Samba De Amigo coming out before the fall? Or how about Force Unleashed, that's an August release, right? Or Mushroom men? Majestic Minor? Will Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers show up?

I included Disaster because it's something we've known about for a while now and that means it's probably at least a possibility. Mario Baseball's pretty much a lock. Of the three confirmed for this year in Japan I would think Animal Crossing has the best chance of not getting here in that same time frame due to all the necessary translation. The more I think of this Kirby game the more intrigued I am, bringing that series into full 3D has a lot of potential.

As for third party stuff, I'm still holding out some hope for TimeSplitters 4 this year. I don't know enough about the project to have any clue when it's coming out, but Factor 5's game could come. And with the shorter development times on the Wii there are probably games we haven't heard of yet that could wind up being hits later this year.

The way I see it, Nintendo may have a couple of games in the works, and will be revealed at E3 or any other conference.

IF the US gets MK Wii in April or Spring then Nintendo may have some big titles they have yet to show. If the game is delayed till Summer or Fall then they are doing a balancing act.

I think May or June is more realistic for a MK release in North America. Japan got Brawl in January, and January-April is a more acceptable gap than March-April is, and Europe is getting Mario Kart in April to make up for the fact that they won't be getting Brawl until next March. Still, it's not going to slip into the second half of the year.

Actually I wonder if Nintendo might have a Star Fox title ready for this fall.  And when I say Star Fox, I mean a REAL STAR FOX game, developed by Nintendo themselves again.  No more of this outsourcing to horrible second and third party crap.

It would make perfect sense.  Star Fox 64, which was developed in house by EAD was a big name title that sold over 4 million copies worldwide.  Everything else after that was outsourced and have all sold much worse.  Adventure sold close to 2 million copies but both Assault and Command failed to even pass the 1 million mark.  Plus there was that one Miyamoto interview where he even said he wasn't happy with how the outsourced Star Fox titles turned out either.

I could see Nintendo taking the series back under their wing in order to make sure the next one turns out right and so it can become a big seller like it used to be.

I do think the next Star Fox will be internally developed, but I don't think we'll see it this year, though I'd love to be wrong about that.

There are rumors flying around that Reggie confirmed the reason why Europe is getting MK Wii and Wii Fit first. Supposedly, Europeans will not be getting Brawl till Fall. If this is true it confirms that we will get MK Wii at a much later date (either Summer or Fall) and thus Nintendo is once again playing fair, making Brawl the first half's killer app while Wii Fit is the latest in casual gaming and Summer's big hit.

More crap from Nintendo covering up their thin line-up due to their inability to make real games in-house and getting 3rd parties onboard.
