There's Super Mario All-Stars, and later on in the Super NES's life, there was also "Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World". Of course, that's even more unlikely to come out for the Virtual Console. (Similarly, I doubt multi-game pack-in Game Paks (like "Super Mario Bros. & Duck Hunt", or "Super Mario Bros. / Duck Hunt / World Class Track Meet" (Power Pad support also another issue)) will ever show up.) The thing about Super Mario All-Stars is that it's not only a compilation but a graphical upgrade. Maybe after the Super Mario Advance games stop selling, they could sell All-Stars, and at a discount to those who bought the NES originals. That's one more good thing they could do with that purchase history! (That could also determine the fate of Ninja Gaiden Trilogy, which was the "Super NESsified" version of the three NES Ninja Gaiden games.)
If they don't release All-Stars, ever, then they should rerelease the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 as the NES version of "Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels". But then that may be another can of worms and people might ask for more Japanese games. But then again people are asking for Japanese games anyway...
