i hate reading the comments over at go nintendo... They seem to have no intellectual skills.

after thinking it over i've come up with my opinion:

Although i don't see this being true, because even with all their safety measures in place, nintendo would not want to receive any sort of backlash from political/religious groups or the media. They know they have a hot system and they don't want to risk ruining that so close to the holiday season. (Yes i know its july but august is almost here and every year retailers prep for the holidays earlier and earlier. Last oct the Halmark store in the mall i worked at had xmas decorations up...). They've done too much to play it safe and be family oriented now more than ever. Its not a bad thing either (cept maybe friend codes) i know i had fun with my mom and sister in wiisports.

i would love for this rumor to be true however. If nintendo wants to be for everyone they should include the adults that would like to play this game. I would love to play this because of all the positive impressions it has gotten from the gaming media, even though i'm not a fan of excessive gore.

think about if it were true for a second. Imagine if they pulled this off very low profile and were able to get it on their system exclusively for even a few months. That would be fantastic!

but again i don't see this happening so i'll stop before i get my hopes up

I'm thinking if Nintendo allows this at all, it'll only be available through their store. That way they can put stringent safety measures to ensure that the people buying the game are the sorts we can expect to be held accountable for their own purchases.

Its also possible that R* has sweetned the pot since they are now bringing Bully to the Wii. They may also be prepping a GTA IV port for Wii also, and that could be something that would persuade Nintendo into trying to work something out.

Since the whole Manhunt AO debacle, R* has announced Table Tennis and Bully, who's to say that they aren't trying their hardest to get Manhunt released and may soon offer up GTA IV too.

Maybe thats just alot of wishful thinking, but it could happen.

Would GTA even be possible on Wii? I think that is a big question as well, we don't know how much horsepower the game takes.

Compromises can(and will) be made, graphically. But there is no reason that it couldn't be almost exactly the same game with just a few minor graphical downgrades.

First of all, this story derived from an comment from a blog. It's not even from the blog's owner. Furthermore, it's a comment from some dude who supposedly has ties with Nintendo AND Rockster and makes it painfully obvious that he doesn't.

Secondly, why Nintendo? Interesting theory though, BnM.

One thing that I know isn't gonna happen is Nintendo Publishing Manhunt 2 regardless of what anybody may think on the situation. But I'm sure they might let R* publish it on their own.

Another thing to note it that since R* is gonna make Table Tennis for the Wii, it makes all the GTA IV rumors that much more likely since GTA IV is built using the Table Tennis engine. If Table Tennis Wii is using that same engine, then it should be a pretty easy port to move GTA IV on over to the Wii for a full all-console release, even if it arrives a little bit later than the other two versions.

GTA was on PS2, so it can't be ported to Wii. Sorry chap, just not enough horsepower. Besides, it doesn't even use DVD discs, and it's not historically the market for the series.

What are you talking about? The Wii is much more powerful than the PS2 and just because the GC was not the market for GTA does not mean the Wii can't be. The Wii has opened new markets and I wouldn't be suprised if rockstar wants to see how many in this new market would be willing to play their games.

Something else to keep the hopes high;

Since R* is gonna adapt the renderware engine over to Wii for use with Bully, that also makes it possible to port over GTA III, VC, SA, LCS & VCS. But instead of an old port, it could be possible that R* might make a SAS (San Andreas Stories) for Wii.

If you could get the whole GTA III series in one convenient package. That was just a little more expensive then a regular Wii game. I think people would go for it. Even if it only supported the Classic Controller. Now if they could tie them together somehow as well, put in good Wii Controls, and give the game a little visual bump I think that the game would go over really well.

I'm not sure when GTA IV is supposed to release, but I think it would be best if they released GTA San Andreas Stories first, then maybe did compilation packs later. It would be a big release to have a new made for the Wii version instead of just another port.
Then they could announce the GTA IV port over to Wii to follow the PS3 and 360 versions.

edit: After thinking it over, it might actually be a good idea to release a GTA Wiimake compilation to build a fanbase on the console before releasing a new version.

Another Rumor that I just ran across (not sure of the legitimacy) is that R* was to announce 3 games sometime soon after E3.
Table Tennis and Bully are 2 of those 3. What will the 3rd be?

Those two were announced two days in a row, do you think something else will be announced today?
Is all this R* luv the hard work of Reggie or do you think its purely because of the phenomenal sales of the Wii.

I was always under the impression that Nintendo rolled their own rumble stuff a while back and kept with that. I hope all companies that just hold patents to sue people will be rounded up and dissolved.

Its one thing to manage and promote something, like the Bluetooth group. Its another to hold and stagnate an industry.

I've thought Nintendo has always had their own way of doing the rumble, and with team of undead ninja warrior lawyers who never sleep and are always ready for court(and they are starving too), besides I don't think they have ever lost a case in court anyway. So good luck to Immersion if this is even true, but I don't think they have case anyway. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
