Baby Park is awesome!  =P  I like the way you spoilered it, but then gave it away in your description (which happens to describe why it rocks, not why it's dull).    It is also a great track to do Time Trials on and test out different cars.

That's a load of crap, Baby Park is one of the best tracks in the game!  Definitely the best for multiplayer insanity...ITEMS ALL OVER THE PLACE!

Bah.  Baby Park sucked.  Assuming everyone here Blue Sparks like I do, 90% of the level was spent holding down the R button and holding right on the analog stick and the other 10% was spent holding down the R button and wiggling the analog stick.

People are obviously not playing Baby Park like I do.

My friends and I stopped playing MKDD Battle Mode a long time ago.  When we play, we set the grand prix courses to 9 laps, and set the item change rate to "intense" or whatever, thereby making the race course into a battle course.  Sure, primary objective is to win the race, but the SECONDARY objective is to see how badly you can SCREW THE #1 GUY OUTTA FIRST PLACE.

Well, it was frantic, if nothing else... They should have made better choices for the DD! Retro choices - there are so many tracks that are a lot more fun than the ones chosen.

Baby Park is either pure racing or pure mayhem, depending which mode you play it on. It's good to have variety too.

I think there's obvious classic tracks they didn't put in, so they wouldn't make the previous Mario Kart's insignificant. Mario Kart Super Circuit will still be relevant to me after this release so I can play ribbon road. Same with MKDD and lots of other tracks.

I'm sure technology came into their decisions too.  Some Double Dash tracks may not even be possible on the DS without changing them significantly.

That track that everyone is talking about can be a lot of fun, but it's so different from any other Mario Kart track I can see why some people don't like it.  Professional's way of playing sounds fun.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Okay, so I broke out DD!! yesterday and Baby Park isn't as bad as I remember.  I guess they can keep it in.  But I'm a little upset about Luigi Circuit and Yoshi Circuit being included.  I like the Yoshi Circuit from MK64 much better.  And they should drop Luigi Circuit in favor of adding DK Mountain from DD!!.  That last course is one of my all-time favorite MK tracks.

I wasn't aware that the announcement of no online battle mode is old news. It was the first I heard about it the other day.

It's still somewhat disappointing. You would think it wouldn't be too much related to lag, since the same problems would easily plague the races (ie, getting hit unfairly by items, photo-finish races going to the wrong player, etc). I do understand the development time constraint, though. It's a shame online battle is the thing that has to go. It was the best way to play multiplayer in MK64, and MK on SNES. Battle in MK: DD largely sucked, in my humble opinion.

At least LAN battles will still be super awesome.

I'm very excited they're bringing back the old item style, and the hop. I just couldn't get over no hopping in MK: DD. I might be the only one, though. They seem to be taking the right direction with this game, with the older, generally more favorable style, and 16 retro + 16 new courses. The MK team seems to understand people want compilations like this. I wish other teams (*cough*Mario Party*cough*) would release old favorite minigames in newer versions. They're not going to be making any more profit off the N64 Mario Party games. Just release them all as unlockables in Mario Party 7! I'd buy it.

Is the Yoshi's Circuit from MK64 the one with all the tracks and the giant? I could never navigate that track properly always falling off or getting lost .

I am in agreement about DK Mountain though. It's awesome.

Since we are remembering old courses here are my favorites.

Mario Kart:
Mario Raceway (or whatever the name is the one with the jump that you could place shells on and screw people over.)
Mario Kart 64
Wario Stadium (Simply brilliant design, and the most fun ever.)
Mario Kart Double Dash:
Baby Park (Simplistic but insane to play.  This was the most intense track in the game, but it didn't feel cheap about its intensity.)
Wario Stadium:  Simply the most cool track design ever.  When I first raced on that track, I felt like I was playing next generation Mario Kart...before that not so much.

By all means, rejoice that Nintendo is allowing you and Stevey to communicate on a more personal and intimate level.

So what happens now? I'm in an online thread. Hope your plan didn't involve my stating any opinions... I learned from last time.
