The eternal darkness has finally subsided.
Current Backlog Size: 11 Wii games, 8 GameCube games, 3 3DS games.
Goal: See the end credits for all of these.
Progress Since Last Update: Beat Eternal Darkness.

I am unbelievably slow at going through games sometimes. That’s probably why I have such a huge backlog of games. At any rate, I managed to beat Eternal Darkness last night for the first time in my life. It’s been something that I’ve been meaning to get out of the way for quite some time and now I can finally join the list of elite gamers who have also played through this wonderful game. Did I beat all of the paths? Pshhhh! No. For me, beating it through one time was enough and took me about 15 hours, most of which I played over the past couple of days. The whole experience, while awesome, kind of creeped me out and left needing something a bit more cute and cuddly.
With Eternal Darkness, I was really surprised how well the game has held up over the years. As I mentioned previously, the visuals may look a little bit dated, but the controls are awesome and the story is something that I haven’t seen since. The game legitimately creeped me out and when I went outside at night, I could swear that I would sometimes see some of the zombies lurking in the darkness. Even if they truly were there or the games insanity effect had broken the fourth wall even further, Pious Augustus and his minions still haven’t gotten to me!
I did vow to take on Goldeneye 007 for the Wii as soon as I was done with Eternal Darkness, but for the sake of my sanity, I think I’m going to move on to something a little bit more lighthearted. Having just played through and reviewed New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the 3DS, I kind of want to move on to some of the sidescrollers on the Wii that I have missed out on over the years. Thus, next I’m going to try to knock out Kirby’s Epic Yarn or New Super Mario Bros. Wii. With NSMB Wii, I got around halfway through the game and just stopped playing it shortly after it launched in North America. It wasn’t because I didn’t like the game, but like many of the games in my backlog, this kind of thing just happens!
