E3 2005 Award (no border)

Scurge: Hive

The GBA may have hit its limit as far as graphical wonders go, but nothing can stop game artists from breaking past this barrier with rock-solid art design. Scurge: Hive mixes an isometric view with anime-inspired character designs and the result was the sharpest looking GBA game on the show floor.

"An impressive-looking title from up-and-coming GBA developer Orbital Media. An isometric perspective and detailed, colorful graphics put this Super Metroid-ish adventure head and shoulders above the rest." - Jonathan Lindemann

"Really strong art and animation in this one. I don't care for the overhead, isometric view, but the game looks excellent regardless." - Jonathan Metts

"Scurge looks more like a late-generation SNES game than a GBA title. The attention to detail is amazing, from its lush environments with parallax scrolling in the foreground to the character animations." - Michael "TYP" Cole

"What makes a great looking 2D game? In Scurge: HIVE the answer is definitely great artwork." - David Trammell
