However, Nintendo said it would be much easier to add friends. UPDATE: There are conflicting reports, another source claims there won't be Friend Codes at all for the Wii U.

Shortly after this story broke, another source was found with conflicting claims. GameTrailers.com Editor-In-Chief Shane Satterfield tweeted that he received confirmation that Friend Codes are gone from the Wii U.

The Big N believes SmartGlass and Apple TV Airplay can't do everything the Wii U does.

If your 3DS hasn't gone online yet, you're in the minority.
Over 70% of Nintendo 3DS systems have been connected to the Internet. At the Nintendo analysts meeting at E3 2012, Nintendo gave a few interesting statistics about the 3DS. In addition, the 3DS has sold more software units since launch than the Nintendo DS did during the same amount of time.

Nothing says "Welcome to Nintendo Land" like free admission.
Nintendo will be considering pre-installed software on Wii U in some markets. This came up as part of the Nintendo analysts meeting at E3 2012. Although they didn't reveal any specifics, they have mentioned multiple times during the event, most recently during the Developers Roundtable, that they consider Nintendo Land to be to Wii U what Wii Sports was to Wii, making it the obvious candidate.

Wii U will be a Bring Your Own Storage party.
Wii U will support external hard disk storage via USB connection. At the Nintendo Analysts meeting at E3, Nintendo confirmed that the Wii U will not contain an internal hard disk, instead letting users provide their own storage using cheaper external USB drives.

It's obviously no North American release date reveal, but at least there's still room for new stuff.
A new trailer for Pokémon Black and White 2 has been released on the Japanese Nintendo channel.
Although most of the information presented is known, it shows off gameplay of all five of the new Pokémon forms, as well as footage of the recently revealed Fes Mission and Join Avenue. It also features Pokémon Dream Radar, and shows off a capture taking place.

Activision's toy-based NFC game is coming to Nintendo's next system.
Skylanders Giants is coming to Wii U, according to Activision's Eric Hirshberg during an interview with GameTrailers.
"That franchise is just such a great fit for the Nintendo brand. I'm really excited for where they are taking the Wii U and the hardware," Hirshberg said.
The idea of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 coming to Wii U also came up, to which Hirshberg said that they had nothing to announce at the time.

They are also publishing the upgraded port based on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game.
Nintendo is working with Tecmo on Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge, according to a Nintendo representative at E3 2012. The extent of which isn't fully known, but reportedly Nintendo assisted with using the Wii U's unique control inputs.
The Nintendo rep also said that the goal is to improve on the game, which had a lackluster critical response when it came out earlier this year.

Wii Virtual Console games will transfer over and be playable on Wii U. In an interview with ABC News, Nintendo Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Scott Moffitt revealed that users would be able to transfer over their Wii Virtual Console games. These games would retain their original display resolution, as they do on the original Wii.

Wii U owners can experience the gorgeous platformer at launch.
Trine 2: Directors' Cut was revealed for release on the Wii U during today's Nintendo press conference.
A Wii U exclusive, the game features the original content from Trine 2 along with system-specific enhancements, a new mode known as "Magic Mayhem," and the yet-unreleased expansion pack.

Two player support comes at a cost.
Nintendo posted a Twitter update about playing with multiple Wii U GamePads, stating that for games that utilize two controllers will experience a drop in framerate. The Wii U will lower the framerate to at least 30fps. Apparently switching one off will smoothly transition the framerate back to normal.
