Metroid II arrives with some other downloadable goodies, but the Wii Virtual Console is abandoned once again.
As reported earlier this week, the 3DS eShop received Metroid II: Return of Samus. Other downloadable titles this week included a WiiWare game and two titles available on both the DSiWare and 3DS eShop services.
Metroid II: Return of Samus, a 3DS eShop game, is the sequel to the NES game Metroid. Players can once again join Samus as she fights off the Metroid scourge, for $3.99.

The digital store keeping its momentum going with another interesting release.
Zen Studio's Zen Pinball 3D will be available next week on the European Nintendo eShop. This information is confirmed through a newly added entry on the digital store.
The game offers four different tables, each with their own attributes and set pieces for a unique pinball experience. You can also duke it out online and locally with up to four players, post your scores on online leaderboards and look at some shiny 3D models.

Renegade Kid's first eShop release gets a new trailer.
Renegade Kid has released a new trailer for their upcoming eShop platformer, Mutant Mudds. The trailer introduces some new areas and enemies.
Mutant Mudds is due out on the eShop by the end of this year.

Side-scrolling action title set to release before the end of the year.
Samurai Sword Destiny, an action side-scroller from UFO Interactive Games, is coming to the 3DS eShop before the end of this year.
In the game, you control a female samurai on a quest to bring her missing older brother home. Along the way she can pick up dozens of upgrades to enhance her fighting abilities and help her take down the forces that stand in her path.

Shin'en's Nanostray follow-up was supposed to come out today.
Nano Assault, which was set for a November 22 release, isn't coming out quite yet, according to publisher Majesco.
"The game was pushed back and is not available yet," a representative from the publisher said today.
Developed by Shin'en, Nano Assault is a shoot-'em-up for 3DS. It is one of seven 3DS games Majesco is publishing this holiday season.

Metroid II: Return of Samus is coming to 3DS Virtual Console on Thursday, and two new original eShop titles are on the way soon, according to a Nintendo press release.
We already reported on Metroid II's European release, which was also confirmed via press release this morning. Metroid II originally came out in North America almost exactly 20 years ago.

A QR-code-related bug was fixed this week.
The 2nd update for Hiku Osu (Pushmo in North America and Pull Blox in Europe) is now available on the Japan eShop. Last week’s update added QR code functionality, whereby players can import and export originally created puzzles. However, it contained some bugs; specifically, due to the bugs, some puzzles were improperly encoded to QR codes which created unsolvable puzzles.

A familiar locale and a brand new one await fans of the Kingdom Hearts series.
Two new Disney locations were revealed for Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance which come from Pinocchio and the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Battlefield developer DICE pitched Battlefield as a GameCube exclusive to Nintendo, according to Penny Arcade's Jeff Kalles (and former Nintendo of America employee) on our 2nd Annual Live Podcast Telethon for Child's Play.
Apparently, despite Nintendo's love for the initial pitch, it never got past the gatekeepers because Nintendo had no online strategy in place.

Nicalis has submitted the finished 3DS version of VVVVVV to Nintendo.
Nicalis has finished the 3DS version of VVVVVV and has submitted it to Nintendo. According to Terry Cavanagh, the creator of VVVVVV, that means VVVVVV will likely be out on the eShop in a few weeks if it clears quality checks.

The fifth entry in the Layton series was a 3DS launch title in Japan, and now its European release has been teased.
In a recent trailer for the fourth installment of the Professor Layton Series in Europe, it was revealed that the fifth entry is coming to Europe next year.
In the last few seconds of the European launch trailer players were teased by the exclaiming words "Get ready for an all-new Layton next year!" These final few seconds also reveal that the new title is a 3DS game.

Today, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the GameCube, Nintendo's fourth home console. So, go grab your systems by their handles, play your proprietary mini-discs, and hook up to the Warp Pipe with your broadband adapter.
This also kicks off a hell of a weekend here at Nintendo World Report, which is fitting considering the GameCube was integral to this site's early days (that happens when you're called Planet GameCube).

Pinocchio, Kirby, Convenience Stores and more on this Nintendo Downloads day, while the Virtual Console is once again left out.
Four new downloadable titles have landed on Nintendo's Downloadable Services. These new downloads include a 3D classic, a WiiWare puzzler, and two DSiWare titles. The Wii Virtual Console once again receives no update.
This week the 3DS eShop received the 3D Classic: Kirby's Adventure. Play as Kirby as he travels across Dream Land on a quest to restore the Star Rod. You can play the 3D version of this classic title for $6.99.
