It's a nightmare to play against.
The arcade version of Pokkén Tournament is still getting updates, including a brand new character.
Mythical Pokémon Darkrai was added to the game in a special summer update this past Friday, which also added Garchomp, Braixen and Shadow Mewtwo plus additional modes and tutorials. This brings the total roster for the game to fifteen playable Pokémon.

Following two days of brutal ink combat, the final Splatfest results are in.
Team Marie 360, Team Callie 340 (54-46, 51-49) At Kelp Dome, the Callie side came just short of flipping a popularity defecit in the final worldwide Splatfest competition. Regional breakdowns of the worldwide Splatfest were not available. With the win, Marie went 4-3 in 2016 in North America and Japan, and 3-4 in Europe/Australia.

Slate your action adventure itch before the year is out.
The Wii U launched with a Darksiders game, and it will go out with one.
Nordic Games confirmed the legitimacy of retail listings for a Wii U version of the 2010 PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 game, with a release date sometime in the 4th quarter of this year (Oct-Dec), at the Gamepolis event in Spain this weekend. The port will release along remastered releases for the PS4 and Xbox One, and will be both a physical and eShop release.

Sega has released a trailer for a follow-up to Sonic Generations, announced for platforms including the Nintendo NX. UPDATED with a statement from the producer.
Friday night during the Sonic 25th Anniversary Party, Sega revealed a new 3D Sonic game, known simply as Project Sonic 2017. Fast blasting, high scoring and ties!
One part of Metroid Prime: Federation Force has just dropped on the eShop.
The Blast Ball multiplayer game is available now as a free download. First shown at the 2015 Nintendo World Championships, the 3-on-3 multiplayer game was later revealed to be a side part of Federation Force. The demo will support online servers until the full game releases on August 19 (NA)/2 September (Europe).

The rare non-VC New 3DS exclusive appears this week.
Following a week of major action on the retail front, it's back to eShop normalcy this week in North America. The headliners are New 3DS exclusive Wind-Up Knight 2, a game published by Unity intended to show that the engine can work on the (New) 3DS, and for North America a legitimately free game (no DLC) in Humanitarian Helicopter. UPDATE: Humanitarian Helicopter is $10/$12, despite the Nintendo website showing free.

One of the best selling 3DS titles is going to grow like the weeds in the village.
New Leaf is going to stay fresh this fall with new amiibo card and figure support.
Nintendo of Europe has confirmed the additions will come to the 2013 release this fall in a free update. The Animal Crossing cards and figures will add their respective characters into the game, as well as select amiibo such as Callie and Marie.

Some might call this week a cooldown.
This week represents a sea of calm in between the mass of insanity of the last couple of weeks and next week's double shot of the Year of the 3DS RPG. We have a small eShop collection from RCMADIAX that has both ice (SKEASY) and fire (VOLCANO), but no Knuckles. There's also a little fighting game imported from Europe in Steel Lords... but that's it.
