The Wii U and 3DS may be getting the ability to gift games to other users, as well as the ability to play Virtual Console titles on both systems, later this year. Both were hinted at in tweets from Nintendo Force magazine contributor Emily Rogers.

The colour is much stronger than the previous pink editions.
A brand new pink Nintendo 3DS XL will be launching in the UK on May 31st.
A pink and white 3DS XL had previously been available in both Japan and the U.S, this new model features the colour for the entire system however. Apparently Nintendo will be bringing this colour to other European regions, but cannot confirm dates as of yet.

The online shops of all four Nintendo systems will be affected.
Nintendo's online services will undergo an extended period of maintenance from 1-7pm PST (3-9pm EST) today.
During this period, the Wii U eShop, 3DS eShop, Wii Shop Channel and DSi Shop will all only be available in a limited capacity or inaccessible entirely.
This maintenance occurs in preparation for the major Wii U system update on April 23, which will improve the firmware's overall performance and add the Virtual Console to the eShop.

UPDATE (4/23 at 3 p.m. ET): The Wii U Virtual Console is likely launching Friday, according to our source who claims the system update will go live Thursday.

Go beyond the waves in this dungeon-crawling sequel.
Denpa Men 2: Beyond the Waves is coming to the 3DS eShop on May 2, according to IGN.
The sequel to last fall's Denpa Men: They Came By Wave, Denpa Men 2 adds to the basic dungeon-crawling experience by adding an overworld, towns, and more. The towns feature all sorts of interaction, even fishing. It even adds a StreetPass mechanic where you have to StreetPass other players to light up a dungeon.

Share all the moments from games like Animal Crossing and Tomodachi Collection with your online friends!
A special web based tool to upload photos to Twitter and Tumblr for the Nintendo 3DS was released today in Japan by Nintendo.
The tool currently only allows gamers to share photos from Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Tomodachi Collection: Shin Seikatsu (New Life) on the services. After uploading, hashtags will be automatically added to the post so that other users can see photos that others have uploaded.

If you love the music in Toki Tori 2, you can now own the soundtrack!
The soundtrack to Toki Tori 2 is now available for download via the bandcamp website.
The album contains 31 tracks from the game, a digital poster that is signed by the development team, and a build-it-yourself hermit crab. The company behind the music, SonicPicnic, had the following to say on the creation. “We’ve incorporated many different themes from the Toki Tori legacy, going back as far as its Game Boy Color roots sometimes.”

Make the 3DS XL even larger for hunting monsters.
The Circle Pad Pro for the 3DS XL is now for sale in the Nintendo of America online store for $19.99, the same price as the Circle Pad Pro for the original model of 3DS. This is the first time the cradle, which adds an extra Circle Pad and set of shoulder buttons to the 3DS XL, has been available outside of Japan.

Layton's final outing will see its first English release this year.
Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, the third in the prequel trilogy of games and the sixth game overall, has been given a European launch schedule for later this year, while US fans have to wait until some time in 2014.
The game will feature over 500 puzzles, and is said to be the final game in the series to star Professor Layton himself as the main protagonist.

Comes with a digital copy of Animal Crossing New Leaf for $219.99
Bill Trinen has confirmed in today's Nintendo Direct that a special Animal Crossing themed 3DS XL is coming to North America alongside the release of Animal Crossing: New Leaf on June 9. The system is coated with various icons from the game, and will include a pre-installed copy of the game.
The system will go for an MSRP of $219.99, or $20 lower if you were to buy both an 3DS XL and a copy of the game separately.

The well received JRPG is making its way west.
Bravely Default is coming to North America and Europe.
Announced at today's Nintendo Direct, Bravely Default is a Squaree Enix RPG developed by Silicon Studio that acts as the spiritual successor to Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light. It features turn based combat and heavy StreetPass integration allowing gamers to call on encountered players for help.

During today's Nintendo Direct live stream, Satoru Iwata has confirmed that EarthBound will be released on the Wii U Virtual Console later this year.
During this morning's direct, Iwata mentioned that there were many posts in the Japanese Mother 2 Miiverse community from fans in North America and Europe, clamoring for the game's release.

Multiple wireless features have been announced for Mario Golf: World Tour. Players will be able to compete against others in real time over the Internet and will also be able to upload their scores for specific courses in worldwide tournaments. Mario Golf: World Tour will also include the Community feature that was present in Mario Kart 7. Like the feature in Mario Kart 7, it will be possible to enforce special rules in communities.
