The Wii U is capable of running Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4, according to company Vice President Marc Rein. He goes on to say, though, that Epic has no plans to port the engine themselves, but that developers would be able to port games using that engine to the system.

8-Bit Summer continues with Kid Icarus and Tumblepop, along with a wide assortment of 3DS and DSiWare games.
It's another packed week with two 3DS Virtual Console games, two 3DS eShop games, and two DSiWare games. 8-Bit Summer enters its third week, and hey, remember: Wario Land comes out next week! Also, Wario Land 2 comes out in Europe today, so now North America has their next thing to grimace about.

Check your 3DS! A SpotPass update is adding a new Kirby puzzle to complete and a free piece to get you started!
An update to the 3DS StreetPass Plaza introduced a new puzzle for 3DS owners to collect in the software's Puzzle Swap mini-game. A 40-piece puzzle panel commemorating Kirby's 20th Anniversary is newly available, likely timed to coincide with the July 19 release of Kirby's Dream Collection: Special Edition for the Wii in Japan. North American users are getting the Kirby compilation title in September.

The first non-Yoshi unlockable QR character is now available.
Metal Mario is now available for unlock via QR code in North American copies of Mario Tennis Open.
To unlock the costume, press up on the D-pad and the Start button at the same time while on the Profile Select screen. Then, take a picture of the QR code on this page and the costume will unlock in every existing profile.

The trilogy's conclusion will include the epilogue content on disc.
The Wii U version of BioWare's Mass Effect 3 (announced at this year's E3), will include the recently released Extended Cut content on the game disc.
Speaking with Siliconera, series producer Michael Gamble noted that the free, downloadable Extended Cut package, which adds endgame content in the form of new scenarios and explanatory cut scenes, will be bundled in with the base Mass Effect 3 game when it releases on Wii U.

The former retail game from Ignition and Renegade Kid is going the way of Order Up.
Planet Crashers 3D, from Ignition and Renegade Kid, is eschewing its retail aspirations and heading directly to the 3DS eShop in North America on July 26 for $10.
Originally set for a March 2012 retail release, Planet Crashers 3D, much like Ignition's Order Up!, was delayed and shifted to the eShop. While Order Up! actually did come out on cartridge in Europe, Planet Crashers 3D has yet to be released in any region.

150 coins can get you Q-Games' minimalist tower defense DSiWare game on 3DS.
Starship Defense is now available as a North American Club Nintendo reward for 150 coins until July 29, replacing Electroplankton Rec-Rec, which was available from July 1 to July 15. It can only be downloaded on 3DS systems.

Nintendo also detailed some other recent records for their various products.
Nintendo of America announced that the Nintendo 3DS has now sold over 5 million units in the United States.
According to Nintendo's executive vice president of Sales and Marketing, Scott Moffitt, the Nintendo 3DS is entering "the next phase of its life," with new hardware and new games coming in the near future. He believes this milestone is a great foundation to build on for the future.

CORRECTION: This story originally described the Deadpool game as confirmed for Wii U. However, the context surrounding the discussion of the Wii U at the San Diego Comic-Con panel appears to be more accurately attributed to Avengers: Battle for Earth. In case you didn't know, WayForward's Mighty Switch Force is available on the North American eShop for a $3 discount, bringing its normal $6 price down to $3. The sale began at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET today, and will run until 9 p.m. PT/12 a.m. ET on July 15/16.
This game is the fourth "Game of the Weekend" sale that Nintendo of America is doing for the 3DS eShop. The first three games were Super Mario Land, VVVVVV, and Sakura Samurai.

The Legend of Heroes series may be coming to Nintendo 3DS, according to Andriasang.com.
The site's claim, though unverified, comes from a seasonal company report from series developer Falcom.
"The [Legend of Heroes] series has been limited to PSP, but starting next term it will be offered on 3DS and a variety of other targets," the report states.

Pre-order it from select retailers and get a soundtrack in addition to the art book.
The Last Story will finally come to North America on August 14 and retail for $49.99, according to IGN.
Additionally, Xseed revealed that people who pre-order the game at GameStop, EB Games Canada, and Amazon.com will receive a seven-song soundtrack, containing songs from the game's score composed by Final Fantasy vet Nobuo Uematsu, as a pre-order bonus. The first run of the game is already set to come in special packaging with an art book.
