We probably won’t be seeing a new Ice Climber game anytime soon either.
Masahiro Sakurai, the director of the new Smash Bros. games, stated the Ice Climbers were running on the Wii U version of the game, but were cut due to the technical limitations of the 3DS version. A higher priority wasn’t given to the duo because the odds of a new Ice Climber game coming out in the near future is rather low.

The series' first handheld entry is already a smashing success.
Nintendo has announced first-week sales for the Japanese release of Super Smash Bros. for the 3DS have surpassed 1 million units. The game officially hit store shelves on Saturday, September 13, meaning this sales milestone was reached in roughly four days of availability. These figures take into account both retail and digital purchases.

It doesn't come with the game, but look at those face plates!
Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will have two special New Nintendo 3DS on the day the game launches in Japan.
One version comes with a Black New Nintendo 3DS and has special custom Groundon face plates. The other, a white New Nintendo 3DS, comes with plates features the Pokémon Kyogre. Next to the fancy face plates, both versions come with a theme download code.

Mega Man's first foray into the Super Nintendo is now available for the Wii U.
Mega Man 7 is now out for the Wii U Virtual Console.
The new release was announced earlier today during the Nintendo Treehouse live stream. Mega Man 7 continues the steady stream of classic Mega Man games on both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U Virtual Consoles in the last month.

You can also connect your 3DS to the Wii U to exchange custom fighters.
The 3DS can be used as a Wii U controller for Super Smash Bros. according to a menu option in the 3DS version of the game. Players can only do so if they own the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros.
Additionally, connecting the 3DS to the Wii U is a way to share custom fighters between the two systems, likely giving you the option to bring your customized roster with you when playing the Wii U version with friends.

Speed Mario Bros. has been announced as a new sub-game for the upcoming 3DS release, Ultimate NES Remix.
Speed Mario Bros. is essentially the same as the NES classic Super Mario Bros., only sped up. Everything from the movement, the enemies, and even the music will be at a much faster pace, making the game much more difficult.

Teslagrad and Adventure Island highlight this week's releases!
Another week, another sparse week of eShop. Perhaps we can chalk up this slow sumer to a series of big guns Nintendo is saving for the holiday season, but all we can do right now is hope that things start getting beefier as fall begins. This week’s highlights include Teslagrad and the Virtual Console release of Adventure Island. I always thought Master Higgins had the best name out of any NES platformer character ever.

Ubisoft’s latest big budget IP is finally set to launch on Nintendo hardware.
Watch Dogs is coming to Wii U on November 18 in North America and November 21 in Europe, publisher Ubisoft has confirmed.
The game was released on other platforms in May of this year. The Wii U version was originally expected to ship alongside those, but a February announcement revealed that its appearance on Nintendo hardware had been delayed indefinitely.

Four new special editions of the 3DS XL are coming to North America later this year, all for the price of $199.99 each.
The first two, coming out on September 19, are Super Smash Bros. 3DS XL systems that come in either a red or a blue variant. The systems do not come with a copy of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, which is due out on October 3.

Announcement confirms suspicion created by a leaked URL last month.
The second Wii U entry in the Taiko No Tatsujin series, known as Taiko Drum Master in the west, will be released on November 20 in Japan.
The game will be available at retail for 5,627 yen and released on the Japanese eShop for a price to be announced. Taiko No Tatsujin Tokomori will feature 100 songs.

North American fans have a chance to get some cool swag with the new title.
The Nintendo World Store in New York City will be selling an Limited Edition Hyrule Warriors bundle. The bundle, exclusive to the store, includes a copy of the game and a scarf modeled after the one Link wears in this adventure.
The store will not be accepting pre-orders for the bundle. Those hoping to buy this set will have to be at the store at 8 a.m. on September 26. Quantities will be limited.

The long-awaited 3DS and Wii U game is close to release.
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse completed Nintendo's Pre-Check according to developer WayForward, meaning that it is close to release on Wii U and 3DS.
First announced for 3DS in late 2012, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse has been long delayed, originally expected for a 2013 release. At E3 2014, WayForward announced that the 3DS game would also be coming to Wii U.

Along with showcasing the final version of Super Smash Bros. on 3DS, Nintendo of America will also cover some upcoming Wii U and 3DS games.
The Nintendo Treehouse will host an eight-hour live stream on Twitch this Friday, September 12 showcasing several Wii U and 3DS games.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is the only game that has been confirmed, and the Treehouse will be highlighting the final version of that game, which happens to hit Japan that same day.
