3DS has sold 3.61 million units, but overall profits are down 52 percent.

Nintendo has released its financial report on the fiscal year ending March 31, 2011. During that year, Nintendo sold 17.52 million DS systems and 15.08 million Wiis, increasing the lifetime sales of those platforms to 146.42 million and 86.01 million, respectively. In the short time the 3DS was available during this period Nintendo sold 3.61 million units of the new handheld.

Student-created games involve space, jellyfish, and a blob.

Four games selected as the best annual entries from the Nintendo Game Seminar are now available to download for a limited time - if you live in Japan.

The games are available through the Wii's Minna no Nintendo Channel, DS Station, and Nintendo Zone, with staggered releases. The seminar website encourages players to fill out surveys after they have played the game.

The popular handheld may be on its way out.

The Nintendo DS Lite will be discontinued, according to an internal GameStop memo, which was posted on NeoGAF. 

The memo stated that GameStop locations will not be replenished on DS Lite units, and that after existing stock is sold out, employees should remove display boxes from view. 

The famed developer also made comments on new 3DS AR games.

Retailers listing Atlus likely due to distribution deal.

Cave Story 3D is still being published by NIS America, not Atlus, as certain retailers have indicated. In actuality, Atlus is involved in distribution.

NeoGAF member Father_Brain noticed that some retailers had changed the publisher of Cave Story 3D from NIS America to Atlus. We asked Nicalis Producer Tyrone Rodriguez to clarify the situation. He responded with the following:

Dubbed Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version, it will contain an early look at the game and an unlockable debug menu.

Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version will be an eShop launch title, according to the Capcom Unity blog.

The game, a demo of the forthcoming Mega Man Legends 3, will star Barrett, a new character who leads a sky biker gang. It will feature a sample of the game's missions, and once you finish it, you'll be able to explore unfinished areas of the full game and use a debug menu to check out other moves and abilities.

After recently releasing a new trailer for the upcoming Wii title Pandora's Tower, Nintendo has also updated the game's official website with a wealth of information regarding the story, character backgrounds, and the in-game system. The new Super Mario Nintendo 3DS game, which was announced back at this year's Game Developers Conference in March, could actually see a release in 2011.

Nintendo's multiplayer hits see a new price later in the month.

Nintendo announced today that two of their biggest Wii titles, Wii Party and Wii Sports Resort will drop in price. Both games will be priced at $39.99 from April 25.

Wii Sports Resort was original released in North America on July 26, 2009, and has sold over 10.7 million copies in North America. The title is a sequel to the Wii-pack in title, Wii Sports, and it is a showcase title for the Wii MotionPlus peripheral.

The Virtual Console arrival of Mega Man's 5th NES adventure has been revealed by the ESRB.

A leak by the ESRB has confirmed that Mega Man 5 is poised for a Virtual Console release.

The fifth Mega Man game, originally released in 1992, has players once again taking control of the Blue Bomber as he defeats another set of robot masters, this time lead by Proto Man. The title's innovation lies in Beat, a robot bird that can be found by collecting letters that spell MEGA MAN V.

The new price is unanimous across most major retailers in the United States.

The price of the Wii has dropped to $169 in the United States at all major retail outlets in the United States. The system, which still has an official MSRP of $199, is being sold at the new lower price by Target, GameStop, Toys 'R Us, Amazon, and Best Buy.
