Big bugs and spooky ships may find a home in the west.
Level-5 has filed two trademarks in the US that appear to be localized titles of games that appear in their upcoming Guild02 series.
The trademarked titles are Bugs vs Tanks (likely Keiji Inafune's Insect Tank) and The Starship Damrey.

This month's Club Nintendo games are 3D Classics: Kid Icarus, Starship Defense, Super Punch-Out!!, and Mario Tennis.

An update to the firmware of the Wii U is now available to download.
Going into the System Settings menu and selecting System Update will start the five-minute download and installation process. According to Nintendo, the update is only for "improvements to overall system stability."

The publisher of digital software has a lot planned for this coming year!
Circle Entertainment, publisher of many DSiWare and eShop titles, have announced their line-up for 2013.

As for those nasty lockups, Gaijin Games is working on it.
A patch for BIT.TRIP Presents...Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien is in the works, Gaijin Games' Alex Neuse announced.
The patch does the following:
-Makes it so the game does not appear to hang on the screen where it asks if you'd like to log in.
-Leaderboards will now only save with your highest score (not your most recent).

Race over to the Wii U for a new release.
Need For Speed: Most Wanted is set for release in North American on March 19, March 21 in Europe and Australia, and March 22 in New Zealand.
The Wii U version features an exclusive co-op mode called Co-Driver, which allows one player to drive while another provides assistance on a map. This version also includes the Ultimate Speed Pack DLC.

Renegade Kid, the developer behind Mutant Mudds, is developing a game titled Treasurenauts.
Nothing is known about the game. This name was discovered by Siliconera through a trademark in the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
In the meantime, Renegade Kid is releasing ATV Wild Ride 3D on the 3DS eShop March 7, while Mutant Mudds Deluxe for Wii U comes out Q2 of this year.

Find out what's preventing your favourite eShop games from making their way to Japan.
NCL requires publishers of 3DS and Wii U eShop titles to be majority owned by Japanese stockholders.
The news comes from Siliconera's report of Nano Assault Neo being published in Japan by Arc System Works (the studio behind the BlazBlu and Guilty Gear series).
This regulation means many independent studios must find publishing deals with Japanese studios to put their game on that country's eShop.
