To those considering not purchasing the game: Yes, the lack of local multiplayer is a very bad thing, especially since Co-op won't work very well without it and it was pretty much confirmed before. But the game is still great. The single player is great. From what I hear the competitive online modes work very well. This is still a great game, just not as great.

As in no split screen multiplayer?

If that's the case everyone's overreacting a bit.

No, they're talking about the ability to play against someone with another Wii and copy of the game in the same place using the Wii's built in wireless functionality instead of using the Wi-Fi Connection.

I am extremely disappointed by the lack of local multiplayer, as in split screen. This has been a staple for years and it is a travesty that it is being axed for online play, especially for a game I was anticipating to enjoy with my family, perhaps even against others online. BWii had a chance to be great, but it is almost like Nintendo didn't care enough about the game. What makes it even worse is this will probably be the last Battalion Wars game because it will sell like crap. It would be nice if the possible final game had a COMPLETE multiplayer mode, including one console split screen.

Split screen would be awful.  Too much information and grafiks to fit onto pathetic half-screens.  Performance would take a serious hit, and there wouldn't be enough real estate to view the landscape properly.

This game WOULD have rivaled Halo 2 in terms of multiplayer LAN possibilities.

I'm horribly disappointed in Nintendo and Kuju for taking it out of the game.  HUGE opportunity was missed.  There's just something so fun about connecting three or four systems together via LAN and battling it out on your own personal screen -- all the while hearing taunting and yelling from the other rooms in the house.

Stupid Nintendo.  Way to drop the ball on this one, guys.

Also consider how Multiplayer and Coop was indicated for the original but couldn't be worked out.

Great game so far.

Complaint, the fighters still fly like butt and I suck with them.  Gunships fly great though.

Recommended everyone check this out and get in this different gaming experience.
The online is pretty good. You can choose what type of game you want, or you can choose "any".  Then if you want to choose a level you can also choose "any".  Nice feature

I really don't see how it couldn't be worked out, downgrade the graphics a bit and utilize split screen. It seems more like a cop out then a legitimate hurdle. In fact I would go as far as to say it is the same hurdle that kept them from making it LAN compatible, laziness!

That would solve the performance problem but not the problem of too much going on and too many icons in the HUD for split screen to work. The lack of LAN play is a glaring omission, and there's no good reason why it shouldn't be there, but Splitscreen just wouldn't work.

Pietriot Wi-Fi Connection FTW

BWii is turning me into a believer.  I played some co-op with Deguello, and experienced zero lag symptoms.  Sweet, sweet combat.  And we're on opposite coasts of the U.S.

But Wi-Fi won't work for Brawl anyway so they're delaying it for no good reason.

I wish I could pick up this game, but I'm not going to be able to buy any games for awhile. My wife just spent a ride in an ambulance and a couple days in the hospital... I'm a little scared of what the bill's going to look like. I guess I should apologize for being a negative nancy too.

The good news is that she's fine. The bad news is that I get no games until I see how far in debt we've gone.

(Yes, we have insurance, but hospital stays with lots of tests and procedures and 911 calls are not inexpensive... even good insurance could leave us a healthy tab.)

edit: Dang, I killed the forum. I need 100ccs of virtual adrenaline in the form of SSB Megat0n announcements, STAT!

Decoyman:  I am proud of you for looking at the big picture.  Sometimes life gets in the way of games, but that shouldn't be a downer.

It is the reason I only have one system.  That way I miss less.  If I have two systems I will want more games and have to make tough decisions, which I already have to make about my Wii.  This way, my decision making process is much easier.

Maybe you can have the insurance company pay for the games as physical therapy.
