Xenoblade, Metroid: Other M Get Teaser Sites
« on: February 03, 2010, 01:00:43 AM »
Both highly-anticipated games now have websites.

A couple of notable Japanese teaser sites for upcoming Wii games have gone live.  Metroid: Other M and Xenoblade now have sites to whet your appetite.

The Metroid: Other M site opens with a female Japanese voice saying, "That dream...it was like watching a playback of a tragedy that actually occurred."  It then loads a panoramic picture of a woman (presumably Samus) staring out over a futuristic city as the sun sets in the distance.  A melancholy piano tune accompanies the scene.

The Xenoblade site is equally mysterious.  It shows an epic scene of two gigantic, ancient monsters, hundreds of feet high, fighting in an ocean.  The scene then changes to a metal sword stuck in the ground, surrounded by a field of green grass and a beautiful blue sky in the background.  A melancholy piano-laden track also plays throughout.

Nintendo has announced Xenoblade and Metroid: Other M as spring and summer releases in Japan, respectively.

If you click on the Wii logo on the top right corner of either of those sites, you go to a Japanese Nintendo Wii site that has an additional link for a "The Last Story" website, whatever that is. Its another "placeholder" site that has a piece of artwork and some music playing.

Fair warning:  I'm going to start handing out warnings to anyone who posts links to other areas of the forum where the topic of a news story was posted first.  This is getting annoying.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Umm, one of those links was to a news story you guys already posted once on the front page.  Just sayin', but alright.

TBH, I didn't realize that the Xenoblade/The Last Story article included a link to the website.  Which is funny, because I believe I edited the story, but it's all a blur really.

If people are respectful about it and not just mocking the staff for (being perceived as) being slow, there shouldn't be a problem; it points people who may not have been aware of it of a discussion of the topic that's already in progress.

I agree.  I'm mostly referring to BlackNMild's posts where he berates the staff for posting a news story that he posted in the forums a day earlier.  It's not accomplishing anything and it's getting on my nerves.

When in the hell did I do that?

I never berated the staff for any news post.
So don't start accusing me of **** I didn't do.

Are you forgetting about all the drama that lead up to this thead and this thread?

That all had a purpose and none of it was to berate the staff for posting late news stories.

It was to use the forums to get news stories up faster or atleast point to the forums when we've already been discussing things that are just now getting posted.

That was all resolved 5 months ago, so I don't know why you would be handing out warning for it now when it happened before you even became a mod.

Any linking to previous discussion in Talkback threads is because we've already been discussing some of this stuff in the forums. It's simply a way to re-direct some front pagers into the other threads since lots of time the forum thread isn't mentioned in the news story even if the news story comes several days later (due to time constraints and fact/source checking).

So not only is your accusation misplaced but your need to exercise mod ability is unnecessary.
