Planet GameCube discovered some interesting things about GameCube's memory card/multimedia wonder...the SD memory card. Discoveries and pics inside!

Nothing was revealed this year at E3 2001 about Panasonic's SD Memory Card for the Nintendo GameCube. No specs, no demo's, nothing. I sniffed around E3 for some good information, and found out some interesting things, as well as took some shots of this tiny wonder.

According to our sources at Interact, they will be producing 8mb and 16mb cards for GameCube. There was no information about pricing or release dates as of yet, but it looks like this will be the standard.

Currently, through Panasonic, here's there pricing for the different sizes and accessories:

BN-SDABPU/1B $79.95 SD PC Card Adapter

BN-SDCAPU/1B $79.95 SD USB Reader/Writer

RP-SD008 $49.95 SD Memory Card, 8MB

RP-SD016 $79.95 SD Memory Card, 16 MB

RP-SD032 $119.95 SD Memory Card, 32 MB

RP-SD064 $179.95 SD Memory Card, 64 MB

I really think that these prices will go down by the time GameCube launches. There is so many possibilities for this kind of technology. Check out Panasonic's

SD Page for info about the technology and the different componants that use SD technology.

Just think, you could add your own mp3's to a racing game, map your face into a game by importing a picture from a digital camera, or even have the ultimate "dex drive-ish" memory card system by downloading save game/player profiles from the internet. The possibilities are amazing.

And it all comes from this tiny little wonder. This card actually came out of Kosta's digital video camera. Check it...

2 seriously beautiful things!
