Ahead of Tokyo Game Show starting on September 17, Sony was the first platform holder to hold a presentation for new game announcements and some release dates.

The headline announcement was the release date for Final Fantasy VII: Revelation being confirmed for April 8, roughly seven years after the first part of the overstuffed remake debuted on PlayStation 4. Further announcements have confirmed an expansion pass with two side stories focused on Vincent and Sephiroth would release in the year following the base game. The Switch 2 retail version will be a Game Key Card, but this is likely due to the game's file size weighing in at TILT 130GB.

Other announcements:

• A demo for Final Fantasy Resonance is now available with save carryover.
• Cygames introduced a new publishing label called Cygames Edge and their first game will be a "leap of faith" action game called Where The Seeds Fall which will launch on November 5.
• Square Enix is splitting the Final Fantasies with some Dragon Quest as Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World confirmed a December 3 launch.
• Unlimited blades will work in Fate/Extra Record, a remake of the tournament focused RPG in the traditional visual novel series which will hit Switch 2 and Switch January 28 from XSEED.
• Digimon Story: Time Stranger will get a story expansion "A Hero's Eternal Legacy" in 2027.
• The sequel to shark RPG Maneater (Maneater 2) will lurk on Switch 2 in 2027.
• Anime continues happening as NIS America will handle western publishing duties for "The Eminence In Shadow: Phantom Echoes", an action roguelite based on a light novel and anime, next year.
• Annapurna will publish a new game from Maquette studio Graceful Decay called "Uncanyon" in 2027.
