Wah wah!

I honestly don't recall the last time we've been able to say this; there's three Virtual Console games on the Wii U this week. The main event of the three is of course, New Super Mario Bros, a game so evergreen it was showing up in NPD Top 10 lists after the 3DS launched.

OK, yes, I'm well aware that two of those VC slots are taken up by Mega Man Battle Network 3. You don't need to point that out. Devote your energy to something like Nihilumbra, or maybe Ultratron from Curve is more your style?

On the 3DS front, since the biggest release of the week shouldn't be touched with a 39 1/2 foot pole, the Sega side of Sammy comes through with the last 3D Classic for a couple of months, 3D Thunder Blade.

Update @ 1:15: STEALTH RELEASE ALERT! Stretchmo, the free to start sequel to Pushmo World is out.

Talkback

New Super Mario Bros is easily my least favorite Mario game and I will not be buying it again, but I am pretty glad and surprised they're putting more DS games out beyond the initial wave so soon after said wave has ended. More of this, please.

I spent more time playing the mini games than I did playing the main game in New Super Mario Bros. It also featured the worst save system I have ever encountered in a video game.

I actually still like the original NSMB, but I also still have my card, so I have no need to buy it here.

I feel like I was still seeing this game in stores last year, though. I wonder if it finally stopped selling, as this price is certainly much lower than the $34.99 it was going for on store shelves.

In fact, I thought they still sold Mario Kart DS in stores as well. Hm, perhaps what I was seeing was just old stock stores still had around...

The best part of New Super Mario Bros., the 2 player versus mode, isn't possible in this version of the game.
