The makers of Just Dance have a new music game in development, featuring songs from hit Broadway shows like Chicago and Fame.

Ubisoft announced today that they will be releasing Dance on Broadway for the Wii later this month. Players will be able to shake their groove things to songs from popular Broadway shows like Chicago, Fame, Hair, The Sound of Music, and Little Shop of Horrors.

The gameplay will likely be similar to last year's Just Dance, with up to four players shaking Wii Remotes while following on-screen dance choreography. The confirmed track list includes Broadway hits such as Be A Lady, Time Warp, Dreamgirls, We're in the Money, and You Can't Stop the Beat.

Dance on Broadway hits store shelves on June 15 for the suggested retail price of $39.99.

It gets points for including the Time Warp and Little Shop of Horrors, but no Wicked or Avenue Q = No sale.

Ugh...Ubisoft's found a new "casual" game series to exploit to death on Wii instead of one of their more interesting franchises.  Damn you, "Let's Dance" buyers for encouraging them to put out more of these games!

On the upside, that's a very nice set of musicals they're using for the soundtrack.  It needs more Phantom of the Opera, though.

TJ SpykeJune 01, 2010

It still can potentially, they made sure to say "and more". I am not too familiar with musicals, so I am not that excited.

BlackNMild2k1June 01, 2010

What about Cats!!!

but seriously, isn't this just too soon?
shouldn't they let Just Dance have a few more weeks at #1-10 on the charts before trying to replace it?

edit: I remember All That Jazz.... was that a play? I only saw the movie.

I'm not sure, but are any of the Broadway shows confirmed to have songs in the game retired from Broadway?  I know Cats is, so maybe that's why it's not there?

ShyGuyJune 01, 2010

This is going to be an AWESOME E3.

There are 39 musicals currently playing on Broadway, none of which are on that list of musicals confirmed to be in the game. Wicked and Avenue Q are both still playing on broadway (see the full list: http://www.broadway.com/shows/tickets/category/broadway/?page=1&sort=name)

This gives me incentive to open up my copy of Just Dance and finally find out what all the hub-bub is about...

It's a lot like Boogie: has a lot of potential, but the gameplay lacks polish.

StratosJune 02, 2010

Needs Phantom of the Opera, Scarlet Pimpernel and Rent among others. The concept here could be pretty cool, but not many of my favorites were on that list.

Plus for Hairspray getting on there.

It needs "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life." I'm not sure how you'd dance to it, but they need to find a way.

broodwarsJune 02, 2010

Considering they're already using Chicago for at least 1 tune, they need to have "He Had it Comin'" as well.  ;)  C'mon, Ubisoft, go for the Gold and get a Teen rating!    :D

Seriously, I find it hilarious that they're using music from a Broadway show about a woman getting away with murder, and the game will probably have an E rating.

Hairspray also has many men in drag...

You know, FOR KIDS!

Is it too late to ask for "Just Stop"?

StratosJune 03, 2010

I'm surprised they missed the title parallel chance. they could have called it 'Just Dance on Broadway' and have the same name as it's predecessor.
