The latest game in the Zelda series will use MotionPlus for swordplay and targeting.
At a recent Q&A session held in Tokyo, Japan, game designer Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that the next Zelda game on Wii will require MotionPlus for realistic swordplay and targeting. In the session he stated that “In this (installment of the series), we’re using MotionPlus to make you feel much more like you’re actually fighting while holding a sword in your hand,” .
Regarding the targeting, the designer explained that “In the previous game, you aimed at things by pointing at the screen, but this time we’ll use MotionPlus to create a much more convenient targeting system and a more pleasurable playing experience.”
At a roundtable discussion at E3 2009, Miyamoto stated that he wished to make a Zelda game that required MotionPlus, but was waiting to see how the adoption rate for the unit would go. This is an official confirmation that the new Zelda title will utilize the unit for enhanced gameplay.
