Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 4 completely redefines the Resident Evil series. You play as Leon S. Kennedy, who must save the president's daughter from renegades deep in South America. Instead of zombies, the agent must overcome inexplicably violent villagers.
Not only is RE4 completely rendered in real-time, but the action takes place from an over-the-shoulder camera in widescreen. The game does retain other aspects of the survival horror series, such as its menu system and focus on fear.
Taking the zombies out of the Resident Evil universe? Naw, it would never work......
