The only reason I haven't done the transfer is because of Fortune Street. That save data can not be copied or moved.

Is there something special about the Fortune Street save?

I thought the Wii to Wii U transfer even transferred the "locked" files (Smash Bros, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, etc.)
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

That save transfer issue is probably something to do with online modes.

I think he mentions why that save file is special for him here:

So, if I move it to the Wii U, it will be stuck there. However, my friends don't have Wii U's yet so unlike just bringing my Wii over and hooking it up using the cords at their place, I would have to take everything over to hook it up to play with all that data which I don't plan on doing.

A minor problem I guess but annoying that I just couldn't copy that data onto an SD card.

Sounds like it is just a matter of being able to take his Wii easily over to friends but with the Wii U, not as easy. Of course, I could be understanding this wrong but hopefully Khushrenada can state definitively if that's what he's talking about.

Khush has finally cracked.  Again.

Seriously any XBone Pre-Orderers reassesing in light of the current news?

Also my PS4 Controller is in today so I'm going to pick that up if I ever get my car.

I thought about it a lot, but the steering wheel situation on the Xbone means that Forza 5 is a no-go for me.  As it is right now, the only games that might force my hand are Titanfall and Destiny, which aren't scheduled to release until the spring.  Games like Watchdogs and AC4, I'll just play on my PC.

It isn't helping matters that both Sony and Microsoft are being so tight-lipped about actual performance for a lot of the launch titles, so all we have are rumours to base our decisions on.  I get why they are being so secretive, especially if the rumours of certain titles on one console not being at parity with the same game on the other console end up being true.  I'll probably end up waiting for things to settle and pick one(probably a PS4), next holiday season.

I take it you're talking about the online infrastructure problems that are rumoured to be facing the Xbox One at launch? If you are, has anything actually been confirmed yet? I found all the rumours for both consoles this past weekend to be really quite confusing. It's hard to keep up.

My understanding is that the PlayStation 4 is now considered by some to be on fire because Sony have not made the system widely available to those in the press who aren't attending their launch events (it's called controlling the message), while on the other side the Xbox One is over before it got started because Call of Duty: Ghosts (which, by the way, is a launch day port, a cross generation game, and working off a very old engine) doesn't run as well as it does on PS4.

I guess the worst case scenario would be that Sony's servers are crashed on day one by everyone trying to download the initial patch (which seems pretty essential), but would that really be so surprising to anyone who has pre-ordered it? I mean, anyone with the inclination to pre-order either of these systems should be very much aware that they're coming in hot. These consoles are now too bloated and complicated with all their various systems not to fail in some way come launch day. It's not an eventuality, it's an inevitability.

Anyone who buys one of these things at launch is f***ing crazy.

*Editor's Note - PixPix, as a soon to be owner of a PS4, includes himself within said 'f***ing crazy' group, and proud of it.

I agree, but how nuts is it that the actual community is half-expecting these new consoles to be wrecks and is still buying them, just to be part of the zeitgeist?

Anyhow, though, cuz this is a 'Tendo site, can we imagine for a moment an upshot? Both PS4 and Xbone exhibit terrible defects in the opening days, which from the sound of it could be more serious than Wii U OS woes. Faith is shaken in the already dubious promise of "next gen." Wii U picks up like the least rude guy in the bar, and all of the sudden the world has changed!

Nope, its mostly a money problem but at this point between delays (Drive Club, Xbox Indie program not ready till next year, and feature set not being ready (a lot about the Xbox and suspend/resume on PS4) neither one would be getting my money until next year, probably after Titanfall or second son.

Ouya is probably the best bet these days.

Yeah, you got it.

Still confused.  You can hook up a Wii U using the power cable, a/v cables and sensor bar from the original Wii.  You just swap out the console itself.

Oh jeez. Really? I could tell the sensor bar was the same but I didn't look that close at the other two outlets. While that means I'd still have to bring the Wii U pad and be a bit more careful, that makes things easier than I thought. Man, this really just is Wii HD. But I still stand by the fact that I hate how some save data can not be copied and backed up. At this point, I should try and make sure everything gets saved on an SD card so at least I can pull it out and back it up on my computer.

Oh, I agree it's stupid.  Remember, I'm the guy who lost all of his Animal Crossing, Smash Bros and Mario Kart save data.

Just confused as to your reasoning. :D

With all that said, I'm pretty sure if you were to homebrew your Wii, you can then "unlock" all your save files.
