As my wife and I walked along the vacant PS4 section of my local Target, she said she was disappointed that I cancelled my pre-order.

When you say the section was vacant, do you mean of people or of PS4's?

The PS4 won't launch in Europe for a couple of weeks, so I'm just curious whether or not PS4's are readily obtainable in stores in North America.

PS4s.  There was a Target employee explaining to a guy why he can't expect them to be available again for a minimum of 3 weeks.

I haven't actively searched for an available one, but I've been to Target & Wal-Mart today and didn't see one at either of their gaming sections.

I preordered both consoles back in June. I picked up my Xbox One Day One edition with a free copy of Forza Motorsport 5, a play and charge kit and a day one 1 year Xbox Live subscription with some extra bonuses included on Friday. I'm in the UK so I will be picking up my PS4 this coming Friday 29th. I'm excited about both comsoles but more so for the PS4 so I can't wait til Friday.

I didn't end up buying it at launch, but I changed my mind on waiting and plan on buying one in a week when I have more money, assuming I can find one.

Yes, they weren't on shelves, I went to the counter and asked and they said yep, and handed me one. All GameStop stores were out and the next closest Best Buy was out too. I asked about Xbone and they said they won't have any until December 22nd.

No Xbones until the 22nd? Microsoft is just handing Sony the holiday season on a silver platter.

I'm sure they'll have some on Friday, but that's what the girl told me Microsoft or corporate told them.

Yesterday was Playstation 4 Day in Europe and since receiving my system I've had a blast with it (Resogun in particular being a highlight, but I've also been enjoying Killzone multiplayer despite sucking really hard at it).

None of my friends, however, have taken the plunge with me, so my friends list is pretty sparse at the moment (i.e. non-existent). If there's any PS4 owners amongst the NWR community that feel like adding me, my tag is simply 'MartySmyth'.

...I'm taking the whole real name thing to it's zenith!

For anyone desperately looking for a cheap PS4, do not get the PS4 mixed up with a bag of towels. Save that for the Xbox One.  ;)

Does anyone know if the Xbox Arcade games from the 360 will be playable on the Xbox One?  How about the Playstation store downloadable games?

With everything digital I would hope they at least figured out backwards comparability for downloadable games.

Negative on both counts. PS4 might get something with the Gaikai streaming, and some of the games like Flower/fl0w/Sound Shapes are crossbuy PS3/PS4, but they're ports. Xbone was all "lol f that".

Well that is sad.  That makes me realize if I want to get new system...I will actually buy an old system.  Xbox Live Arcade has some great games on it...that I would totally buy.  I guess most of those games could be found on Steam right?

About 98% of them yes.
