« on: August 19, 2012, 03:01:44 AM »

Well what are you waiting for? Go download it! Or, I guess, go buy it in a store.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/31377

New Super Mario Bros. 2 is now live in the North American eShop as of midnight ET/9 p.m. PT. It is available for download for $39.99.

The latest side-scrolling Mario game is also the first retail title to be released on the North American eShop. Players who want a physical copy of New Super Mario Bros. 2 can go and buy it in stores as of August 19 for the same $39.99. The size of the game 2,950 blocks, or 370 MB.

Let us know how you're enjoying the game, and if you're on the fence, be sure to check out our two reviews of the game.

That's one small download for Mario, one giant leap for Nintendokind.

I might use that as the new site mantra. Maybe with a picture of Mario and Dr. Spaceman Jonny Metts leaping into the air.

Downloading mine now! Despite the long load time this is very convenient for me.

I look forward to future releases.

Just finished the first world and I might take a break until tomorrow; try to make it last instead of marathoning.  I did go out to Target this morning and bought a blue 3DS XL, but downloaded NSMB2 as soon as the system transfer completed.  As someone who never saw a DSi XL in person, all I can say is holy...crap.  I would choose it as my weapon in the hunger games.
I got hooked on the white stuff back in the 70s.

I think Disco Stu should start referring to himself in third person like Disco Stu.

I'm still undecided about whether to go digital or physical for this game. Plus, I'm waiting for my 3DS to come back from repairs.

Then you're out of luck, cause no digital games can be resold. And why not also complain about Microsoft and Sony, who also charge full price for downloadable retail games?

I'm kind of shocked how tempting it is to download this game. I haven't had any intentions of purchasing it at any point, nor am I in favor of downloading a full retail title with Nintendo's antiquated online service... but it's just so convenient.

I had $20 left on my eShop account, so I figured spending $20 today was better than $40 for the physical.  Plus, I'm that much closer to 900 if they offer the gold nunchuk again.  I've played and enjoyed 1-1 and 1-2 so far.  No idea how long it took to download, as I set it up and went to eat.

As much as I would prefer to download this game, Nintendo isn't offering enough incentive for me to go that route.   I rarely resell Mario games, but I would prefer to have the option to recoup a little of my money back if I decide I don't want to keep it.   I do wonder if the plans to release the game online will cause them to publish physical copies of them game in more limited numbers initially.

Of course, I have such a huge backlog going at the moment, I don't have a particular reason to rush out and buy this.
