It tis giftmas shopping season and what better time than now to start a thread so you can Rate the last item you bought (or received).

Panasonic VIERA X1 Series TC-L32X1 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV - $377 w/ Free Shipping

I basically got this TV for $130 after I sold my 3 year old Olevia (will miss that tv) for $250.
The picture quality is a little better since the Olevia was not as clear and seemed a little grainy in comparison. I now have 3 HDMI inputs hich should come in hand and also have the handy feature of selecting my input directly from the remote instead having to cycle through each one, I even get to name them(the inputs) for quick and easy reference.

This TV is a lot smaller size wise than the Olevia too, since the speakers aren't sticking out from the side. It matched my 21" monitor right next to it alot better now, since they are both shiny black plastic with no visible speaker (my TV and monitor are right next to each other).

The only advantage my Olevia has over my new Panasonic at this point (and I still need to do some tweaking) is on text in PC mode. You can read the text fine, but it's kinda faded as if it's not displaying properly or at the wrong resolution. It's looks fine inside of browser windows, but not on the browser itself or on the windows desktop. There are options on the PC itself that I still have to play with along with a few tweaks on the TV options, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

overall 4/5 stars

NSMBWii, a 1 TB WD HDD, some doublestuff golden oreos, and G2 Grape-flavored low-calorie Gatorade.

10, 8, 7, 10

Must-have, Works great/looks cheap/loads a little slower than I'd like, better than normal oreos/not as good as normal cookies, stuff tastes amazing/is an upgrade to normal grape gatorade/BUY G2 and try it if you haven't already.

Short and sweet, scales are out of ten.

Seriously, the hard drive does what a hard drive does, and was kind of cheap, but the one I had before my roommate busted looked a bit more stylish and had firewire eSATA connections, so look for that type over the WD 1 TB type on sale at Wal-Mart.  I've kind of grown out of oreos, if you can believe that.  You'd think, as a person who doesn't enjoy chocolate tastes, "golden" oreos would be amazing, but they're really unimpressive.  The Gatorade actually should be off the scale, to be honest.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii: 9.5

I happened to be killing time waiting for some pizzas to cook and went into a K Mart in the same plaza, went to the electronics department and saw it, so I bought it. Since I haven't opened it, let alone played it, the rating is based purely on my excitement, with a .5 deduction because I really don't like the red case.

I forgot to mention a 36 oz. bottle of Heinz Ketchup.  You can never have too much ketchup.  Never.  The worst part was, we were completely out of the stuff!

Also 10/10.

Two lottery tickets.  $1 each.

Can't rate them yet.  Probably a total waste of money, but they could turn out to be the best money I've ever spent.  ;D

Vudu's a secret idiot?!

Yeah, pretty much.  ;D

I chip in every week to my office pool.  I don't think of it as gambling--I think of it as insurance.  I work in a small office (under 20 people) and the majority of them participate in the pool.  If they win big, everyone will quit and my job will become a living Hell.  So I play on the off-chance they win I won't get screwed.  I hope I don't use my life insurance policy any time soon, but I have one just in case.  ;)

Because I'm not betting to win.  I'm betting so I don't lose big time in case the rest of my office wins.

How about this?

How about you send me the two bucks you spend everyday/week and if your office wins, then I'll give you the exact portion of your earnings without taxes?

Really, though, it's not just insurance against "If" they win, I'd imagine it has auxiliary benifits of a morale boost, as well as making the employees feel like "the boss" is a little more accessible.  Little things count, and even if vudu's honest about why he's buying them, it lets them all know that he does need his employees to be successful.  I'm not disagreeing with it.

Also, he does have better odds of winning by pooling the tickets together, at least.  Still insignificant odds, but better ones, all the same.

That's retarded.

How is "Let's win the lottery so we can all get the **** out of this shitty job!" a boost to moral? If anything, it's a detriment. Furthermore, they could pool their dollars together and do something that would bring them much closer, if that was the point, such as having a weekly lottery with a real prize; e.g. a movie or simply the money.

Sheesh, it's called bonding.  It doesn't have to make perfect sense.  They aren't doing it because they hate their job, they're doing it because it's a way to bond, it's easy, it could be tradition, you don't have to argue about what you "choose," like you would with a movie, where people have different tastes.  Having a lottery for an individual prize could cause more problems than one for an imaginary prize that could never be won.

I agree, it's a lot more practical, don't get me wrong.  However, I think in the long run, avoiding silly disputes over things people don't care about is a lot more practical, from the perspective of an employer.  Since the idea isn't vudu's he'd become a target of serious rage if he tried to change it, and that's definitely not worth it.

Bonding doesn't have to make sense, but it doesn't need money thrown down a drain to be sustained. And if picking a prize would be such a big deal (which it wouldn't) then do it for money; tangible real money. Have everyone chip in for a month and at the end announce a winner. That way someone gets a nice bonus and there are no arguments.

I think everyone would agree that's a better idea than wishing with a ticket upon a star.
