Unfortunately the original Call of Duty will be a PSN/XBLA release so I doubt they will try to fit it on to WiiWare. As for Treyarch, I think they are decent and they ported the Call of Duty 4 engine on to Wii for World at War so in a way it's a logical fit. Although it would of been nice if  Modern Warfare 1 and 2 came out on Wii this year.

Does Infinity Ward have some sort of itch against developing on Wii themselves?
I hope they don't. In in the near, I would really like to see an Infinity Ward game built from the ground up for the Wii.

According to wiki they have made 4 games and all of them have not been on a Nintendo platform. They are really talented yes but seem to have no desire to want to make games within the constraints of a platform. It gets farmed off elsewhere.

I'm unusually psyched for Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles in light of this news.

And Overkill's lighting looks fine on my TV, and people tell me my settings are TOO DARK for them.  I like Overkill, a healthy amount of content for a standing-up light-gun shooter experience, and no, I don't use the on-screen cross hairs.  If a rail shooter offers calibration (all 3 Sega shooters), I get zero enjoyment treating it like a glorified Wii Play target practice.  I gotta hold up that plastic peripheral, use line-of-sight, and fight the shakes and soreness in my shoulders.

i'm curious how this ends up. I might pick it up. For Wii only gamers this is a thumbs up.
I just hope they find a way to get the engine going well, include online and local multiplayer.

I most likely wouldn't have bought Modern Warfare 2 for Wii since I'm buying the 360 version but I never played the first one so I'll probably buy this.

Don't forget controls.  Don't forget controls.  Don't forget controls.

The whole game in MadWorld monochrome with d-pad only controls as aim and movement. Shake violently in circles to fire.

FEEL THE FUTURE. EMBRACE IT. SQUEEZE IT. Only on Wii.

wow, i was just checking around the net and there are some people who are dead set against and for this game.  Its funny that most cant be happy  that a system is getting a game.  Who cares how old or good it is.  If its solid, it will sell.   This announcement also comes in after The Conduits online success with the market too.

COD4 has sort of been one of the flagship titles for the HD consoles for the last 2 or so years, and I think that alone has given it a bad reputation amongst the hardcore Wii fans, who have been rallying against the HD consoles.

That's not a good reason to dislike a title, but I think you'll see that kind of sentiment around the internet pretty frequently.

You must be happy Wii got Quantum of Solace.  Activision was happy to not care about it.

When Nintendo announced Metroid Prime Trilogy (good old games), it was called a special collector's edition, they said it had bonus content, they said the controls got the Corruption upgrade.

When Activision announced Modern Wiifare, they just said "Wii is getting Modern Wiifare, ported by Treyarch."  This DOES NOT EXCITE MY LOINS.  So Treyarch has a year to destroy HD assets and cram it into their Wii engine.  I wasn't enthused with my World at War purchase, so I'm skeptical about how this is going to turn out, which will also likely be $50.

World at War had a decent feature set, but the controls weren't refined to the point where it smoothly translated to the visual movements, so I fought the controls for one night then sold the game.

As long as they include all the content from the PS360 versions of the game, I will give this consideration.
But I still think it is a sneaky way to capitalize on Wii sales by tricking Wii gamers into thinking it is the same game being released on the HD systems by releasing them side by side.

If they really want to capture teh "core" gamer on this, it should be a MW1.5 that is MW1 with all the improvements brought about by MW2, like the MPTrilogy as was mentioned by Pro.

Maybe Conduit will force them to make COD4 fully featured and not drop special elements left and right. Conduit set a standard and any relatively talented studio should be able to raise that standard with a little TLC dev time.

I do hope they include the DLC stuff.

Could be that they are tired of being treated like second bananas.  I mean that they finally deigned to develop a title for the Wii, but instead of making new content, just ported old content, either stupidly unaware or knowingly aware that nobody wants crusty 2 year old content.  I'd rather have something new or a Call of Duty game specifically designed for Wii, not the 360's and PS3's sloppy seconds.

IMO they should make a game that contains the story of MW1 and 2 in one package even if it's missing some of the details (i.e. not the full CoD4 campaign but a shortened one) so when they release MW3 they can release the Wii version simultaneously without worrying about players lacking the context.

Do you really need context for any of the COD games?  How many war simulation games have there been?

You sure the 12 months of dev time they'll have is enough?  Even less time if they've only had a chance to understand The Condom Unit's strengths after the game was released.

I PREDICT

Improved graphics over World at Wiiar.

Gimped modes.

Same so-so World at Wiiar controls.
