I don't mind stereotypes when its clear the ones joking about them know its not true (even though they're sometimes based on truth :P). If I came across a biggot that truley believed that black people steal cars and hispanics are lazy, his/her ignorance would irritate me but I wouldn't let it ruin my day.

I was fortunate enough (sorta) to grow up in a diverse city (lol there are still on going lawsuits about segregation in schools here..) and got to learn about multiple cultures from friends in school (where it felt like whitey was the minority), and because boys will be boys we constantly made fun of eachother, racial stereotypes were always thrown in but it was always for fun. The people that I work closest with at my job are the same way and it's awesome to be able to joke freely with them and say whatever is on my mind.
Not sure if anyone remembers when I mentioned joking about a coworker being pregnant and how the wrong people overheard and took it as fact.. well she was Mexican and we constantly joked about eachother being "poor dirty mexicans" (even though i'm not mexican, i'm Ecuadorian) and thats where the joke came out of; as a mexican she's obviously super fertile :P

So with that said, kudos to BnM/CnC for bringing another LOL moment to me at work. Thanks bud!

Maxi's on ly half-hispanic and he's just upset he doesn't fall in line with most of the stereotypes.

-he's a legal citizen
-he's doesn't do mowing/tiling/plumbing/gardening etc
-he doesn't have have a kid half his age
-he doesn't have any kids, at all!
-he's never seen a religious figure on a tortilla
-He's never gotten a "new" mattress from a dumpster
-He's never held a mattress on top of a car with his bare hands because he didnt have rope
-He's never owned a lo-rider
-He's never been crammed into a lo-rider with 15 other hispanics
-He doesn't prefer arroz con pollo over steak and potatos

I could go on..

I've noticed stereo types have changed significantly ever since the iPod and digital porto-music became popular.

For one, no one shoved their WALKMAN into a slot on their stereo.

Two, today's stereos are missing cassette players.  How can a music lover listen to their glorious M.C. Hammer tapes without them?
