Used games usually still have the registration cards in them. I did the "intend to buy" thing too and that gives five years to register it.

you only get the bonus "intend to buy" points if you register the game within a certain amount of time after it came out.

I got a used copy a few weeks ago (my sister's boyfriend gave me his copy), I like it. I think archery is boring, I hate that dogfights are 2-player only (you should be able to play against the CPU), frisbee golf doesn't seem to work that good.

My favorite activity is by far the Island Flyover. It is so addicting trying to find all of the "i" points and hitting all of the white balloons. I wish they made it easier to tell which i points you have already done (like how white balloons become colored balloons the next time you do it again). In the bowling game though, I can't seem to get the ball to go all the way down for the auto strike (I can get it to go down most of the way).

I love the island flyover as well. And the dogfighting. Those two are the most played for me.

That time period is five years. There is another bonus you can get for registering a game within four weeks of its launch, but that is unconnected with the "intend to buy" feature.

If you register WiiSports Resort before July 26, 2014 you'll get 50 coins.
If you register it within 4 weeks of release you'll get 50 coins + a bonus 10 coins.
If you register it after July 26, 2014 you get squat.

Nowhere on the Club Nintendo website does it say that you have to register the product within four weeks of launch:

Trust me. I registered Rhythm Heaven for Intend to Buy before it came out. I registered the game last week. I got 30 coins.

It doesn't say register the game, it says indicate your intent to buy. Are you sure you intended to buy it before it released?

Someone on another forum is where I first heard about this so I don't know what to believe. They got 80 coins like this:

50 for registration
10 for intend to buy
10 for registering within 4 weeks
10 for post play

I guess I'll just have to test it out for myself to see.

Note two things: It mentions getting ten coins for registering within four weeks after launch under the regular registration. The Intend to Buy section does not mention any time frame.

I've never gotten any 10 coins for registering and surveying within 4 weeks. My max earnings are 70 coins. This whole Club Broketendo thing is borked. All the Bonus stars say +0 even though I earned the +10 for the Intent to Buy on the upper right icons.

It's possible that the person who told me about it did the math wrong, or that there is a time limit even though the website doesn't say that there is. I'll find out once New Super Mario Brothers is released since I did the Intend to Buy with that.

I've been getting 80 coins earned each game since EXCITE BUTTS. In the corner it shows +10 and 70, and it never occurred to me that they're separate and thus 10+70 = 80 coins!

I just did it with WiiFit Plus. 2 weeks after it came out, Nintendo gave me notice that I had 2 weeks to register the game for my bonus "intend to buy" points. So I went out and got the game.

If I thought it was important I would have taken a screen shot and posted it.

I believe the "intend to buy" program is intended to encourage 1st month sales of games to people that already know they are gonna buy it. For one, it looks better in the NPD PR when you can spout off 1st month sales, and 2 it encourages people to buy new before the game can be bought used.

Why would they give you several years to register a game and get the "Intend to Buy" bonus? According to my account, I have until 2014 to register Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and still get the 10 coin Intend to Buy bonus. As long as you say that you intent to buy the game, it doesn't really matter when you actually register it (unless you want that other bonus for registering it right after it comes out).
