Grr the Table Tennis champ is a cheating whelp, merely able to move back to the center faster than other opponents.

I end up having "smash rallies" just trying to get a ball past her on the other side of the table.  It's nuts.

I hear ya.  She can run, we can't.  She has no trouble moving, and the player's Mii doesn't want to go anywhere.  And she hits towards your mii in such a way it sends then into confusion between forehand/backhand, so we're mostly fighting against the Mii's inadequate functionality.

Ugh, curse this game.

I beat her 6-1.  Your turn, Deguello.

All those chumps <1490, I pretty much used the same strategy to exploit their running inability (like the player has to put up with), and get clean 6-0's.

For this cheating AI trash, I ended up finding a different exploit.  Used immediate sharp angle top-spin returns that puts the pressure on her, reduces her available reaction time, prevents a long range match, preventing her from taking advantage of her unfair moving ability and surprise shotgun returns, as I make her chase the ball past a corner.

Your return has to have a good enough angle and speed that she won't have time to move to whatever her bullshit calculated ideal spot would be to make a controlled return, forcing her to lob, and it's up to you win the subsequent smash/lob rally.  You're hitting back so soon during the rally, you're Mii is automatically staying close to the table so there's less worry about moving slowly and getting stuck at corners.  Having to go to these lengths is ridiculous.

And the last key part for all this: don't make a mistake.

It's gotta be a clear forehand or backhand, or a surprise STAB that just fucks up your game.  Because the game is so messed up to the point you're not allowed to manually move your character around, you have to predict the ball's trajectory immediately as it's returned to you so you can setup the forehand/backhand early enough to execute it properly.

If you always stand with the Remote aimed straight at the screen (neutral paddle), your opponents WILL take advantage of that, cuz they know Miis are casual-retarded.  They will curve the ball just to make your Mii mess you up.

So I played this with some friends and had a lot of fun with it. Probably more fun that with the original WS game. I played the sword fighting, frisbee golf and dog fighting.

Dog fighting instantly made me want bot a Pilotwings game and a Star Fox game with the same controls. Especially Star Fox.

The sword game was interesting because the friend I played with and I took a fencing class together in Real Life. He tried to spam-waggle me at first and I soon figured out how to counter the shameless waggling. Very fun.

Frisbee golf was fun, but I already got to try the Tigerwoods version and prefer that one, but it was still fun.

LOL, I did spell it funky.

I've found all but 10 points on the free flight mode. The airplane modes are by far my favorite. I picked up a second M+ so I could play sword fighting and dog-fighting with my sister. I would have gotten the Tiger Woods M+ bundle but the store I went to didn't have it in stock.

I've been playing a lot of the sword fighting. Love it.  However, I have to recalibrate often, seems like that mode in particular can get inaccurate.

Perhaps the more jerky and abrupt motions you do throw off the calibration faster?

So far, with everyone I've played in a duel, I've been the best.  The key is simple:  Be quick and be accurate.  Don't waste a swing if you're not aiming to hit the player, and not avoid the sword.  Don't block a swing without deliberately aligning your sword correctly.

Also, fluid, controlled strokes are much quicker and much easier to manipulate than quick, unrestrained jerks.

I LOVE THIS GAME! Ever since I got my new Wii about a year ago I never played the first Wii Sports once.

But man this game just blows the last one away completely! The moment my jumped out of the plane I got that-this is what nintendo is all about- feeling. So far I have enjoyed everything but canoeing. It just made me tired, and im a healthy strapping young lad. I refuse to play cycling though, I know that one will stink.

How can you guys hate the Jet Ski? It felt just as aweful as wave race most of the time. I thought it was great! Archery man, now it really feels like i'm developing some kind of skill! And wake woarding was super fun as well.

Those air plane controles were almost exactly how I imagined Star Fox to be. A Mii motion pluss Star Fox could feel just as accurate as buttons and stick, but still be just as fun if not more so with this new control scheme. Except I don't think it would be necessary to hold it like a paper airplane.

This game is great, and gives me much hope for future nintendo games. Zelda needs to have 1:1 sword fighting, it just does.

WSR w/ 2 M+ bundled in for $59.99
« Reply #297 on: September 24, 2009, 11:36:01 PM »
Quote
REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Wii Sports Resort™ is all about getting multiple people involved in friendly sporting competitions. Starting Oct. 12, consumers will have even more incentive to get in on the fun when Nintendo releases a special, limited-edition bundle of the Wii Sports Resort game and not one but two Wii MotionPlus™ accessories, which bring enhanced precision to games.

The bundle will be available at a suggested retail price of $59.99. Typically, Wii Sports Resort comes with a single Wii MotionPlus unit at a suggested retail price of $49.99, and additional Wii MotionPlus units are available at a suggested retail price of $19.99.

“Shoppers are looking for value as we head into the holiday season, and this Wii Sports Resort bundle is a gift that players of all ages and experience levels can enjoy,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Best of all, it instantly gets multiple members of the household engaged in playing as soon as the package is opened.”

The new bundle will be available while supplies last at most major retailers.

Through the end of August, Wii Sports Resort has already sold more than 1.25 million units in the United States alone, according to the NPD Group. Nearly 2.9 million Wii MotionPlus accessories are in the hands of the public. That includes all those sold with Wii Sports Resort, standalone sales of 1.36 million and an additional 257,000 bundled with Tiger Woods PGA TOUR® 10.

Looks like Nintendo is really trying to push M+ adoption now that Zelda is gonna require it ;)

They probably have just now realized how important M+ sales penetration is.  Glad to see this, though, it's a great bundle with two, people will love it.
